Childress gave up. With 2 minutes to go and no timeouts - 4th and 13 at their own 18yard line - he punted - thus conceding the game.

The man plays not to lose and this is the ultimate example.

Yep, Childress needs to man up. This was by far his worst coaching performance so far.
Any one ever wonder why Reid would not let Childress call plays, but he now lets the current OC call plays?
Perhaps, its that Childress sucks at it.
Denny Green took a knee to send the game into OT. That at least was a 50-50 proposition. Childress punts with over 2 minutes on the clock. He doesn't even give the team a chance.
I have never seen an NFL coach give up that easily. As far as I am concerned, Denny is known as take a knee...Childress Mr. give up.

Deep, insightful story. It reminds me of something writen on a piece of paper stuffed inside a fortune cookie.

After further review, the word writen should have been WRITTEN. The Vikings will be charged a time out and will be assessed 14 penalties.

Totally Agree. As soon as a replacement is found he should BE FIRED.(Bud Grant for 2008 then Mike Martz 2009, Bill C, Jimmy Johnson, Martty S.)

IT IS TIME FOR A MUTINY. If you still go to the games bring signs with suggestion for a new coach and lots of FIRE Childress signs.

If you fire him without a repalcement you will be stuck with his clueless understudy. Get a replacement --- Bud Grant for this year then Mike Martz, or Bill C, or Jimmy J, or Marty S then FIRE THE FLAT-LINE MAN. Someone needs to tell him when you are totally flat-line you are dead, like you last offensive call. I WOULD LOVE IT IF IT WOULD BE HIS LAST OFFENSIVE CALL. IT WOULD BE FITTING.

Just in case you didn't know. His last offensive call was a PUNT.

there is no doubt that Childress will be let go. He absolutely is clueless. I smell a mutiny brewing. How can the team still play for that clueless worm. I say put Leslie Frazier in at interim, send bevell packing with Childress, and find a person whe can utilize the players on the team that we have. I was truly embarrassed by His coaching.

Either Ziggy is a super nice guy, or is a total Moron. Why do you keep a coach like this. Pull the plug on this ship of fools. Pleas lord help me Jesus!

I don't think he is either. I think he is a sharp businessman who is wanting the Vikes to lose so he can take them to Los Angeles and make BILLIONS! With the Vikes being the lowest valued team in the league he should make a mint. Watch out for this shyster.

You said it Homer. It's all about personal greed.

As much as I love my namesake he has been out of the game far too long to make a difference. However if you simply want a caretaker to babysit the team for the rest of the year then he's the man.

I don't know how many fans watched the NFL network program on the 1969 vikings but as an example of Grant's coaching style he had his players practice lining up for the national anthem so that they looked like soldiers standing to attention. Somehow I don't think all the spoiled babys on the team would take to that kind of discipline. I think the team desperately needs leadership but Grant's time has been gone for a long time.

You have to be dead on correct. This team is an embarrassment and has been for quite some time now. I hate to see what kind of circus is going to show up on Monday night against the Saints. While watching this clown show, I will probably be wearing a paper bag on my head. Geeeez!

Yea, its upsetting when you go back and see what the vikings were in the late 90's, and what they are now. How did this happen?

On a brighter note, just think of all the other ways you can spend your Sundays than watching this bunch of clowns. Build your own stadium, Ziggie, and if you are so fond of Brad Childress you can name it after him - "Childress' Kick-*** Offense Field."

I agree, also Grant no longer has the desire to coach. He has all but said that.
