Dolphins claim three players -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

As expected the Dolphins' final 53-man roster is far from a finished product. On Sunday, the Dolphins picked up three players off waivers, including receiver Greg Camarillo and 6-foot-7, 323-pound right tackle ... Full Story

I was shocked they kept Reed over Sam. Maybe Sam will end up on the D/S, but I still believe they have one eye on the Pats WR situation. They (Pats) currently have 6 WRs on their 53 man roster and are talking of waiving Moss. If they don't do that, they may waive Gaffney, Caldwell, or Washington to get down to 5. Pats still have 2 WRs that are veterans,(Troy Brown & Chad Jackson) on the PUP list so if they wait until after the opening day kick-off to waive one of those 6 WRs, they'll have to pay them their entire year salary (assuming that they are all considered 'veterans.' Non-vets don't have that guaranteed salary provision in their contracts) even if they cut them. Of course if they cut a 'vet' and he's later picked up by another team, N.E. would only have to pay any difference between what he was supposed to get from NE and what the next team signed him for, so it's really not all that much of a deterrent.

Nice job shoring up the o-line, now lets get some help for the secondary.

Hate to see Kerry Reed cut, but the three pickups will add crucial depth.

Im with you on Glenn, but Arizona claimed Moses. We probably put in a claim, but Arizona had higher priority. Blades is a good player, but were deep enough at LB and have too many holes in the secondary and o-line. Reed will be back on the practice squad.

looks like a great draft when you keep 10 of 10 (1 on IR). how many of wannstadts and sabans draft selections were on the roster more than one year.

the key ingredient here is meuller, don't kid yourself, his record in seattle and new orleans, and now the phins speaks for itself. i say good ridance to wannstadt, spielman and saban, and hello and welcome to the new guys, meuller and cameron (meuller was ham-strung by saban).

"Lekkerkerker may push Antony Alabi and L.J. Shelton for a starting job." ???? How bad is this O-Line that a man who failed to make a 53 man roster will push to start here. He wasn't in the top 53 of their best players but I'm sure he'll transition to a starting role here seamlessly. Let's not kid ourselves with loft expectations. These guys are simply here for depth.

How is someone who failed to make a 53 man roster on another team considered as a candidate to start as the article suggested? Let's be realistic, it's simply depth.

I'll just add one caveat to your point...if your drafting has been in question by the fans(i.e. Ted Ginn Jr @#9 - first round), self-preservation says you keep as many of your draft picks as possible to at least appear that you knew what you were doing. Were all ten worthy of a roster spot? Either Dolphins were in bad shape personel wise or Camueller struck the motherlode. I thinks its a bit of both. Only time will tell. For the dolphins sake,I sure the hell hope it was the motherlode.

PS - Of all the cuts Kelly Reed is the toughest for me to swallow - he's gotta be going to the practice squad if someone doesn't grab him first. fish have to be trolling the waiver wire for experience veteran recievers.

Well, thats a quite easy question to answer. When your O-line is considered one of the worst in a 32 team leage, thenm, a reject from someone elses 53 man roster might acually be better than someone on the FINS 53 man roster!

I'm not surprised by the Lekkerkerker signing. He started for the PAtriots in 2004-2005 too, didn't he? If so, a definite good addition from an experience standpoint. The fact that he didn't make the roster of an awesome San Diego offensive team doesn't mean he can't be an upgrade here in Miami.
