From what I read in yesterday's paper, the small craft warning was not issued till afternoon.
I live south of Clearwater and near the ocean and I can tell you that on Saturday the ocean was rough and it was windy for the better part of the day and the weather reports talked about the storm that was approaching for Sunday morning.. I would hope that these gentleman had a weather radio on board the boat as most fisherman do and listened to the changes in the weather.. According to the news article the owner of the bait station stated that some of the returning fisherman that day stated how rough the seas got.. I still find it odd that the Coast Guard hasn't at least spotted the boat in the general area of where they were supposed to be fishing ..

I find it odd that the Coast Guard conducts search and rescue operations in Alaska during the winter but has trouble with 7 foot seas off the coast of Clearwater, FL.

I hope they are found and ok, that's a very small boat with so much weight and so far out.

If you live near Clearwater you do not live near the ocean, you live near the GULF.

Good morning, Dee. We had five inches of snow here yesterday, after 72 degrees on Sunday. This with these guys does not sound too good. Bless them and their families.

Conservative Republican doesn't care what the real story is....this idiot just wants to say ignorant things to get a response....Fortunately he is not intelligent enough to put comon sense in his posts. He is an idiot and pay not mind to him. I am a Republican and am embarrassed to have this idiot pose as a Republican.

Well I hope they are found alive and well. They should have checked the weather reports for the day. Never mess with Mother Nature while out on the water.

your point is well taken however, good fishermen always look at the weather conditions and reports for the day and if the reports show (and it did) that the weather would turn late in the day then they should have been back on land by that time..
And thats the point isn't it? They should have looked at the weather forecast before they left and be back in by the time the weather changed.
