Pretty strong article! I hope that Russell is great as the starter, but I would really love to see the other two get a shot somewhere too.

I hope all works out for JRuss...he has all the intangibles...no he has to put it together on the field.

I for one will never be chanting "Tui". Its Russell for the next 3 years at least, for good or bad.

i think you have to be patient with him. i mean we see how long it has taken for Eli Manning to develop. and even Peyton Manning strugled his first 2 seasons. I think you have to let him start the whole year and just be patient. but i do think it would be wise to go out and get a veteran QB to be a mentor.

I beleive he will do well if the offensive line protects him. If not he will just be a target in the backfield just like Walter, McCown and Tuiasosopo was. I see no improvement in that area and it is sad because ya can't go deep and you can't run without a good offensive line.

well we did bring in Kwame Harris at left tackle which is definately an improvement and we will have some competition at the center position which usually makes that position better. so hopefully it will be enough for this year but it's definately something we still have to adress n the future

The Tackles on both sides of the ball are going to be key, the O line Right & Left Tackles and how they protect Russel and the Defensive Tackles on how they play against the run.
If they can perform then it should allow the other talent all around those guys to make an impact.
If the Raiders can then go 8-8 at worst, its likely to maybe give Kiffen another year and continuity at Head Coach will really help Russell.
Another 4-12 year and Kiffin's out and then who knows what might happen, maybe worst case Lofton or Ryan gets made up to head coach, but some degree of continuity at the coaching level for Russell will make a huge difference over the next 2 / 3 years.

My thoughts exactly U.K.S.. On the lighter side of the scenario however, should be a very good running attack which is exactly what a young, developing quarterback needs. Man I can't wait for this season to start!

Amen to that. First season in a while I am jacked to see the Raiders play with a solid chance at a .550 record this season and possibly a winning record if all goes well...

As long as there is an offensive system (something we've lacked since Jon Gruden sank us into our own blackhole in superbowl 37), then He will be good.
