I hate to get off the subject of the topic, but what is up with this back we picked up off the Bears practice squad. It seems the Bears didnt want him to leave. He played college ball at Bowling Green and put up great numbers. I find it kind of odd the Bears wanted to keep him even though they may have the deepest set of halfbacks in the NFL.

Just like when the Packer cut Hunter Hilenmeyer and now he's a stud on the Bears' D. I guess that will happen from time to time considering how often some players change teams.

If you saw P.J. Pope play in preaseason then you would know why the Bears did not want to lose him. He looked every bit as good as the 3 they kept and better than some. I think they just could not figure out what to do with him, or did not want to break up the team chemistry. He's good and you might get a chance to see him this weekend.

Good, because Noah Herron, while a good back, is lacking the necessary speed to be an impact player in the NFL and we need to give A Green a rest every once in awhile. The running game needs two good backs to make it work and with Morency down for a couple of weeks, a speedier second back is critical.
And here is where we should expect to see some dividends in the coaching changes. Good teams, like New England, can overcome injuries because the coaching staff has prepared the backups to succeed. Mike Sherman could barely get his starters to succeed much less the back ups. If MM and his staff are going to be successful over the long term, they need to show that they can plug in these back up players and still get the job done, even if it is against Buffalo.
I agree about the coaching staff getting the young players ready. However, its not the running backs that concern me, its the defensive backs I think could be exposed vs Buffalo.

I agree the RB situation will be fine this week, but I don't see a big concern with the D backs. Al Harris should be able to hold his own with Lee Evans, and Woodson is playing, so he should be able to cover whoever they throw out there. Buffalo's O line is struggling and so is JP Losman.

This coaching staff has already shown it's ability and flexibility in covering positions. For example, they lost their #2,#3,#4 WRs in midweek and their #1 LT 20 minutes before the Dolphins game and were able to compensate and play a solid game. Can't ask for anything more.
