One of the reasons I like Tavaris is he realizes he is not a superstar (yet) and is willing to put in the time in (film study) and become a student of the game. Something Daunte was not willing to do... He has all the physical tools and is playing with more confidence. The only issue (which is huge) will be if he can read/recognize the defense fast enough to make the right decision with the ball. Checking down to AD or Chester is not a bad thing when in doubt. I would feel a whole lot better if he cuts down on the picks in practice. Granted it looks great for the D, but TJ needs to do better so that all of his detractors stfu and get off his back. He can not afford to get down on himself and start doubting his ability. Once that seed gets planted it's a Ted Thompson (beeotch) to get rid of. Good Luck T.J.!!! Our wagon will only go as far as you can take it. Memo to O-Line; block well for the kid por favor!!

Tarvaris will open the mouths of all the speculators and out of their mouths will be "Wow"
Most improved played of the Year will be T. Jackson. He is also my favorite player in the NFL.
Why? Because he is blasted with negative criticism and he does nothing but take it and use it to his advantage. UNDERRATED..UNDERRATED
Have a fun and awesome '08-'09 season T-Jack!
Stay away from the bad guys, I don't want you injured.

Absolutely. When Tarvaris pairs up good judgment with those excellent running instincts, watch out! He'll be truly multi-dimensional in a way Favre never was. I have a good feeling that this is the year he comes through big-time.

Well, one thing for sure. If it's going to work or not work for Jackson, we're going to find out in the first six games. If he can survive that, and look at least "okay", & The Vikings can win at least 4 or more of those games... then I think he'll be okay.
I realize that it's at least marginally within the realm of possibilities that Farve could somehow wind-up here. But I doubt it. For one, Childress already put his nads on the line by backing Jackson. Bringing in Farve would be almost like admitting he's wrong.- He'd never do it. Farve wouldn't be a "savior" either, like alot of people seem to think. Look for yourselves. He has a $h!tty-**sed history of getting used to new recievers. Most people just seem to be hung up on this last season. He didn't look all that great prior to it.
Have some patience with Jackson. He's relatively "new". If Dilfer can win a SB, and Grossman can make it to one,...anything can happen.

Don't forget it's only going to be his 2nd yr as a starter! There WILL be bone headed mistakes, but there should be some HUGE plays down field this year! Last year there should have been but a certain WR couldn't catch wide open passes for the TD

AS FAVRE LOOMS, JACKSON STRUGGLES
Posted by Mike Florio on July 30, 2008, 7:22 a.m.
Though the Packers seem hell-bent on preventing quarterback Brett Favre from playing for the Minnesota Vikings, we can’t help but think that Favre’s defection to purple is, to a certain extent, inevitable.

Unless the Packers can persuade Favre to take a trade to some other team or decide to welcome Favre back at a time when it’s clear they don’t want him, Favre eventually will be released — and presumably will promptly sign with the Vikings.

To the extent that the Vikings are on the fence about whether they’d prefer Favre to current starter Tarvaris Jackson, Jackson’s performance on Tuesday could help nudge the powers-that-be toward embracing the 38-year-old veteran.

Jackson was intercepted twice on Tuesday. During seven-on-seven drills.

The field is tilted heavily toward the offense in seven-on-sevens, with the quarterback able to find the open receiver without worrying about having his head removed from his body. And, still, Jackson threw two picks.

Despite all of the offseason talk about Jackson’s motivation and development and all that crap, the fact remains that Jackson was unable to take advantage last year of defenses that were obsessed with blanketing tailback Adrian Peterson. Given that the team is in good-to-great shape at every position but quarterback, it’s easy to see why they’d be interested in an upgrade, even if he comes from the unlikeliest of places.

This article pretty much reinforces what I saw in Mankato on Monday; T-Jack looks like T-Joke! The sooner the Packers release Farve the better.

Jim in San Antonio, TX was the first poster I've read that actually brings up good reasons why it COULD happen. - I'm still not convinced, but it's a damn good post. Yet, you never know... Things like this have happened before.

Its going to come down to who is going to bend first...and the only way the Packers gave is if Brett comes to camp...the Packers are just trying to prolong this thing through training camp...once training camp is over the circus will dim down and thats what they want.

The only way Brett gets released is if he creates such a spectacle that GB wants nothing to do with it anymore...hes running out of time and the Packers are smiling because of it.

I'm pretty sure Brett threw a few picks in 7 on 7's before. Its not the end of the world...keep that circus in Green Bay, I for one want no part of it. All it will do is ruin our chemistry. I'd rather fail with TJ than succeed with a packer at the helm. The whole idea makes me ill.

People will say "Wow" alright, as in, "Wow, how did this stiff ever make an NFL roster?"

Nah, Jackson will be OK. I really do believe that. He'll make some mistakes, but will overall be much better than sucky.

But.......in case I'm wrong (which has never happened before, as far as y'all know), do we keep Bollinger or Booty? If Fornot went down injured and Jackson's out (for whatever reason), who you gonna call?

I also agree with Utah...I'd rather go down with a burning ship than invite a Packer to dinner.

(Still need to work to rescue Jordy Nelson from the Fudge.)

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Virgo

Someone is being headstrong and wilful, and absolutely determined to do what they want. Mercury is retrograde and it's a Full Moon in Cancer with a lunar eclipse all happening tonight! This could lead to some heated discussions and possibly even rows, as you argue the toss back and forth. It might be best to accept that there's very little possibility of reaching an agreement rather than to get locked in a stubborn battle of wills. Besides, you don't want anything to spoil what promises to be a very enjoyable New Year's Eve. Have fun!
