Judge it!
That's about who I expected to go in the first round of cuts.
I wonder who is on the hot seat for the trim down to 53. Here are my top 5 players/position battles.
1. Terdell Sands has been severely out played by several teammates especially undrafted rookie Desmond Bryant.
2. Sam Williams has only had his name called for penalties and has been injured most of his career and has been outplayed by rookies Slade Norris and David Nixon.
3. Cornell Green has been called for penalties a lot and has allowed a lot of sacks and yet is still the starter. I'll bet the injury to Khalif Barnes has a lot to do with it.
4. Tony Stewart/Darrell Strong; I'm sure one will stay but I'm not sure which one. Rookie Brandon Myers has made a big showing as a receiving TE as well as a blocker. Both have caught passes and Stewart actually has a TD catch to his preseason resume. Stewart is mainly a special teamer while Strong is more of a blocker. It will be interesting to see who stays and who goes.
5. Justin Fargas; With Michael Bush and Darren McFadden clearly the more explosive playmaking threat backs and Gary Russell and Louis Rankin making good showings in preseason, This may be THE END for Fargas. One thing that he does hold over all 4 of the others is that he knows the playbook better than any of them.

I agree with your hot seat players...But I do hope we trade Fargas and nut cut him....We need the defensive help. Realistically aside from Asmougha is there any D player that couldn't be upgraded?

I agree with both of you, although I don't think Fargas deserves to be nut-cut. LOL! Rod Coleman has been released. I wonder if he still has anything left in the tank. |

I do too. I hated to see him go because he was a disruptive defensive force that we haven't had since his departure. However, after the way Desmond Bryant has been playing, I wouldn't be surprised to see him start opposite of Tommy Kelly. |

Don't miss them THAT much! But I'll admit, I am a little bitter at Davis for moving back to Oakland. But he is getting his karma. Let go of the nations 2nd largest market and can't fill Oakland Alameda Stadium unless he would create a "free beer" day! I am loving that! Do any of you remember when the Raiders put fear into any team that had them next on their season schedule? Lately other teams laugh because it means a sure W in the win column! |
