There cannot actually be any meaningful discussion about trying to sign Cassel. I should know better, but I refuse to believe that Angelo is that dumb.

Let's face it, there's no QB on the open market that is going to take the job from Kyle Orton. I'm torn on Orton, mostly because of his poor decision making in some of the late season games (NO, especially GB), but nobody on the market is worth investing in. I think with a fully healed ankle his down field passing will improve. You could see that he wasn't pushing off his back foot very well after the injury.

Also, the Bears need receivers. I think we all realize that. This current receiving corp would make Peyton Manning look like a bad QB.

Oh no, two washed up and never good to begin with QBs are off the market. What ever will the Bears do?

Any team can still negotiate a new long-term contract with Cassel and can negotiate the draft pick compensation with the Patriots.

Really? "Unattainable"? I don't think so buddy.

Not worried about Caleb or Orton.
Go get receivers.
Angelo cannot go into next season with Booker, Rashied Davis, and Lloyd

Most knew what would happen this offseason already.Thats why it was stupid for Angelo to even make those comments in the first place. It looks like a blatant deflection away from the subpar performances of the defense he invested so much of the cap in.

Best thing Bears can do is go hard after Boldin and may get lucky getting Warner for 2 yrs. In the meantime get a WR from the draft.

Does anyone really think Boldin or Housh would want to play with our QB situation? PLEASE.
Plus the Bears will not spend that much money to even entrigue one of those guys.

It is interesting to note that the Super Bowl MVP and the Pro Bowl MVP both were Wide Receivers. I believe that a upgrade at wide receiver would have more positive impact then trying to upgrade the QB position with what is available at QB.

How about fixing the defense? The offense will generate enough points if the D quits shooting them in the foot.

The offense is why the defense has been on the field so much. Stop trying to give this offense a pass, they are as much the the blame as the defense. I don't care that we spent more money on defense, we still have a crappy offense. Both teams in the superbowl had playmakers on offense that made the difference.

Angelo & the Bears need to break the mold of what type of QB fits their system. Leftwitch, Sims, & Orton will all lead the Bears nowhere fast! Orton would likely not be a backup QB on most other NFL teams but he's the Bears' starter? Time to realize the defense is over the hill & offense can't win with 13 points a game.

Care to go out on a limb and define what is "enough"?

How many points a game is this offense capable of scoring, in your opinion?

This I gotta read....

Not worried about Caleb? NOBODY has ever watched this guy play in an NFL game. It never ceases to amaze me how people can fall in love with guys who had one good preseason game. If Caleb sees the field next season just assume things are going VERY badly.

Chris Sims is nothing and never will be. On the other hand, Leftwich could very well turn around his career here in Chicago. In appearances with the Steelers this year, he looks awfully good. The guy has been slowed with injury, but if he can stay healthy, he may be just what th bears need. Leftwich and an experienced WR and the Bears MIGHT just have a legit defense. But who am I kidding, the Bears can't pull the trigger on anything that would remotely help the team.
