i love brett favre, dont get me wrong- he is the reason i love football so much. but it would be the most foolish decision of his life to play for the vikes this year. he needs to retire, stay retire, and enjoy the rest of his life.

Foolish? Why?
Because he would lose the love affair he has with a percentage of Packer fans? This is a grown man. This isn't high school. Favre shouldn't care what others view him as. FACTS ARE FACTS. He is statistically, one of , if not, the BEST QB to ever play the game. He is a SB champion. He has won three MVP's. He was the primary reason GB became a legitimate contender again during the 90's. He has sustained through a long career, and who is to say he shouldn't return and retire on the highest note possible, with a SB ring? Don't fool yourself into believeing that adding Favre to MIN's roster doesnt make them the favorite in the NFC. After all, the same team Brett took to the NFC Title game TWO years ago, failsin comparison to this Viking squad. |

I know that David Haugh is usually wrong! How many years did he crow for Grossman?
On the other hand, a glance at Favre's numbers show that that guy is still dangerous under center: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players... Considering the mopes for QB in MN, I'd think Favre would energize the team, fan base and threaten the Bears with the weapons he'd have available. I'd rather have the Vikes sign Grossman, personally. But hey, we beat Favre with Green Bay, we'll beat him in purple. |
|||

Sorry Haugh,-
but Favre is like yesterday's newspaper, and a "shell" of himself. Te guy just doesn't know when to say "WHEN". Favre is worst than those washed-up boxers, who won't/can't/don't know how to give it up. Granted, he's going to a pretty good offensive setup, but he's not the same QB he was a few years ago, and his propensity to throw Int's will be the end of the Vikes Coach(who I understand is NOT a favorite of the Vikings fans already. Sorry Haugh, we Bears fans see Favre as a "toothless" Lion now, and would probably become a disruptive force on an already(mentally) fragile Viking's team. |

Thank you for calling our Rosenbloom on the Favre possibility. If he signs in Minnesota, the best thing we could hope for is that he does poorly and the they sub him out for one of the guys they've already got. The worst that could happen? I don't even want to think about it.

1 Where are you getting this information? Are you on the team, do you have insight nobody else does? I spose' a defending division champion could be considered as "mentally fragile." Get real. |

1 Tarvaris Jackson! Favre is washed-up, people. If his last three years with the slackers won't convince you, just look at his Jets debacle last year. If Favre comes to the Vikes, the division is ours! Please Brett please, come be a ViQueen. It'll be the best thing to happen to the Bears since Jay Cutler. |

1 AGAIN, Bear fans....how is Cutler going to be affective without an offensive line to keep him upright? Frank Omiyale? Kevin Schaeffer? An aged and oft-injured Orlando Pace? I sure hope your not assuming they can withstand a defensive line like Minnesota's? Cutler also has no weapons. His best reciever is his RB! Sad. And let's not forget that Chicago Bear "Side of the milk carton DEF." Wasn't the DEF the reason he was 17-20 in DEN? A DEF with a pass DEF ranked in the bottom 3 of the league? A run DEF that is seemingly overmatched everytime Peterson is on the field? GET REAL. |

Enough of Haugh already, his articles are pointless drivel, and he seems to want to emulate Mariotti in his disdain for the reader and sports fan. Just look at the premise of the article - I wrote an article saying Favre was a threat, stupid fans sent me letters saying I was a moron, well, right back at you people, Favre is still a threat. And what is the deal with calling out Bowlen? If he is really having memory issues, maybe he is getting Alheimer's. Even though that is a possibility, Haugh takes a shot at his "irrational behavior". And how is taking one more finance class going to help Forte at contract time? It's not.
|

Favre is a non-factor at this point in his career. It really is sad that he just didn't retire from the Packers. Did he not learn anything from Michael Jordan?
Congrats to Matt Forte on graduating from college! A finance degree no less. Great job! Go Bears! |
||||
Rather than respond to every point of this drivel, I'll merely say,'we'll see.' The Bears have improved their roster -- the degree to which, we don't know. The Vikings would improve the QB position with Favre. The degree to which, we don't know. What I do know is, for all the Bears problems, they finished a single game behind the Vikings last year, and have a far easier schedule. So like I said, we'll see, whatever the aging double-talker does. |

After reading the above posts .......... Damn...... This is gonna be a FUN season !!! . |

Congratulations to Matt Forte. It was really refreshing to hear someone in his position going back to school as soon as the season was over. He reminds me of Derrick Rose, character wise.
---------- I am not the least bit scared that Favre could be successful in Minnesota. I see him like Ben Gordon. He seemed to have dazzled you all beyond belief about 5 years ago, so much so that you can't realize that he's not effective anymore. Sure, he might hit a game winning shot at the buzzer, but for some reason you people missed the other 99% of the game where all he did was dribble into double teams, and take bad shots. If he would have just let the offense flow, they never woulda been in this position. Sure, Favre might lead a drive at the end of the game or throw a 50+ yd bomb, but what about all the INTs that put his team out of the game in the 3 quarters before that? What about the INTs that kept his defense on the field when they were tired? Thomas Jones was an absolute beast last year and they still couldn't do anything, because Favre is a chucker like Ben Gordon. Do you remember when Thomas Jones talked on the radio about Favre losing games for them? He was on a rap radio station where he felt laid back enough to speak his mind for real. Then once it his mainstream, they made him pull a PR move to save face. Let him go to MN, where he will burn out before the season is over. And before that he'll throw his share of INTs because of his bad decision making.... and add to that his bum shoulder. |

I have never seen a writer gush more about 3rd-7th round draft picks than Haugh. Moore, Iglesias, Gilbert etc. Relax buddy. Its the same story with you guys every year. There's a reason they werent 1st or 2nd rounders.
|
||||
|
Just think back to the last Bears/Packers game Favre played at Soldier Field. He QUIT. Just plain QUIT. It was cold and windy and he was worn out physically and mentally.
|
||||
|
People talk like Favre is in his prime. He's just short of becoming a sorry looking has been and you're worried about him? Didn't anyone watch him play last year? He was average at best. If Bear fans are worried about Favre it shows the lack of confidence that they have in their players.

The same Thomas Jones that is whining his way off of yet another team? The same Thomas Jones who disappeared at the end of the year just like Favre? For real! |

1 Anyway, I would love to see Favre with the Vikes. He is a washed up interception machine. Not only that, I would love to see Da Bears tear him apart again. |

+1 Well said. |

Our first game against the Viqueens is at the end of November on the 29th and then at the end of December on the 28th. Check your facts, farve's numbers dipped precipitously at the end of the year to a 53.3 qb rating in December and 9 interceptions to 2 touchdowns in the last 5 weeks. He doesn't have the heart to go the distance anymore. Pretty sick of him playing the diva too. I say to the Viqueens go ahead and sign him and we'll put two in the win column.
