dead on with the analysis...if Chris Long is #1, I hope a good LT is still available at #32.

One brick can make a big splash.... 20 bricks can begin to build a wall. Well put Mr. Hyde.

A couple of extra picks for Taylor would give us the ability to get Chris Long, Rogers-Cromartie, and a LT.

Got to agree with Dave on this. The biggest missing piece right now is another starter on the OL, and that means a LONG is in our future as the No. 1 draft pick, since it appears a long shot that somebody will trade up for that pick.
I am waiting on safety help, too, plus a QB in the middle rounds. |

Great analysis. Dead on. I hate to see Jason Taylor in another uniform (though he'd be good in Green Bay) but if it nets a second round pick, that would be awesome. What I don't understand is what all these yahoos are b*tching and moaning about. How are you supposed to build a team in the salary cap era? The depth of the stupidity on here is stunning. The team has been a mess for so long. It needs fixin' and it's going to take time. Stop whining and deal with it.

I guess idiot Hyde missed the fact the Phins resigned Ricky ASAP.

I agree that a LONG is in the futer, but at what exoence? Tey can pick JAKE without trading JASON. Jason fits in the scheme. ZACH has already been released. If PACe is signed, which I highly doubt at this point.( the jets will make a similar offer, and money being equal, he picks them, otherwise he would have just signed with the fins already) But say he does, that puts the defence as it stands right now, once the chemistry fits, as a pretty good one. AGE obviousely isnt a concern with Parcells, as the trade for Ferguson demonstrates. I liek and understand what Parcells has done thus far, well, I diodnt lie releasing Zach, but I undertand it. Tading JASON would I believe be OVERKILL. The Defence Parcells is trying to build will be better WITH him than without hin=m, no matter WHO he drafts. Can anyone in here say that it wouldnt be? Say PACE signs. OK, Pace is an ooutside linebacker who had 6.5 sacks. Joey Porter on the other outside postition. He ha sthrived in that position. Porter has alway been in a 3 4 scheme. KEEP Jason, that gives them the OPTION of taking JAKE long or CHRIS long. Tade Jason. Well We ALL KNOW WHO THE PICK IS. Chris. to REPLACE JASON. Why take him to REPLACE him when he could be on the opposite side? Just imagine the defence then! Ferguson blocking the middle, Chis Long on one side of him, Jason Taylor on the other, behind them are Calvin pace on onne outside position, JoeyPorter on the other. How much PASS RUSH would that be??????? and WITHIN the budget. Still would have 7 picks left. Still wopuld have MONEY left over.
But hey TRADE jason for what?????? 1 2 extra picks? Dont trade him the defence is good right now. Parcells took a 1-15 jets team to 9-7. Keep Jason, he could beat that. |

Good article Dave. I heard this draft is the deepest for OT in the last decade, so I think they probably will take DE Long. He probably would be the safest pick. With the 2 second rounders they will find OL help.
A JT trade would be sad but I understand we could use the extra picks. Jason is getting old, the odds of him remaining healthy are against him. He is very expensive but worth it when he plays healthy, but rebuilding with young healthy players should be the priority of this franchise even if we get only a 3rd and 4th rounder for this guy. I wonder where Ricky stands on Draft day also. Remember Parcells starting QB got kicked off the team for smoking pot. Can Parcells trade down, trade JT, Trade Ricky in one draft? Now that would be a interesting package. How about getting additional multiple picks over two years? Better yet getting everything this year, additional 2,3 and 4 this year plus swapping 1st rounder with someone. I like the possibilties especially the last one because we wouldn't have all that money tied up with the top pick, and we can get young very quick. Instead of 3 picks in the first 2 rounds we would have 4 and maybe 5 players, more cap space to work next year also. The draft is a crapshot and some are better than others choosing talent, why not increase the odds with multiple picks? |

Look at New England,Dallas,Giants Good night Dolphin fans,Sweet dreams |

Bravphin, if you knew anything about football you would know that Jason Taylor is too small to play DE in a 3-4. He would have to play linebacker. In the 3-4 scheme you need your big 3 run stopers upfront. Taylor is not one of those guys. Get another 2nd rounder, and get that franchise qb phins!!!!(Henne or Flaco)
They already have their franchise QB in beck. The kid has a nice throw and doesn't throw lots of picks. You'll see even more now that he will have an o line. |
mAYBE i DONT KNOW AS MUCH ABOUT FOOTBALL AS SOME OF THESE HIGH AND MIGHTY PEOPLE, but it seems to me that Jason taylor suceeded in the 3/4 hybrid scheme that Saban had, and if Parano and parcells mean what they say, about the style fittiong ther players, instread if the otheer way around, then they shoukld back it up. Jason has porved his size means nothing. size isnt everything all the time, otherwis every guy who was big coukld play as well. so dont gove me that crap. theres something called talent and heart. Jason has that and has proved it. Parcells has made his pint that this is his team without trading taylor. So no way can you convinver me this team will be better without him. I can understand ZACH going. But trade Jason the free agency signings are nothing. the draft is nothing, they are al unprovens. they cn get 2 picks ofr Jason at the most? how many of them will be as good? Maybe both wont be half as good. How does THAT help? Fine, if Jason WANTS out, let him go. But damn it, Anhmore let go and the fins are nothing but an EXPANSION TEAM. They have a rookie head coach a rookie defencive coordinator , a 2nd year startinf qb, unless that interception waiting to happen Mccown wins the job,#1 pick will be a rookie, can you say EXPSNSION TEAM? IRebuilding anything you keeop the strong parts. Jason is a strong part. Hell rade Ronnie Brown too while your at it. anyone left on the team that was any good, TRADFE him, Get more picks! So we can be an ALL DRAFTEE team! Maybe ins a few years we might be able to beat a college team, Lets pick up the MARLIS way. Oh wait, Marlins at leats wait tillt they WIN, then unload every damn good player they have. I agrere with most of hat Parcells is doing, but trading JASON TAYLOR is WAYYYYYY toooo much, and will not make the team any better NOW now later. Not the the leven that Taylor plays. Just my dumb ass opinion. But hell. Trade him to my home town FALCONS. So at least one team I watch will get BETTER. |
Please excuse my last post, I read the article in Miami Herald, and apparently, Taylors departure would be more HIS idea than than Parcells. Not that I am any more thrilled with that, but, get the picks or him then say good riddence. I dont want anyone that dont want us, BYE BYE see ya in hollywood JT.

I think the key to dumping Taylor is that he's 34. He has good value, and he's not gonna get any better. Miami won't be a playoff team next year, maybe not even the year after that. So by the time they do make it, how good do you think that 36, 37 yr old Taylor is going to be, especially since his game is the pass rush? Grab some youth, build for 2-3 years down the line. If the Fins had some playoff potential for this season, fine, keep him and see how far you can go. But that isn't the case, and it won't be for some time.
PS - Can the Bears have him? We'd have him on our bench half the game, but we'll take him regardless.
I have been saying this forever. In these forums. I think most fans agree if they filter out the medias hype. |
