Get Kearse or Laboy, then use 17th pick to get a long term DE

O why o why don't we trade for jason taylor???!!! Is this not the perfect solution???!!! I pray that im not the only one wiggin out over this. Part ways with one or two of them extra picks and land an outstanding pass rusher. Please MR SPIELMAN, COMPLETE THIS TRADE. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

Make a try for Odom, by all means. Failing in that, which is likely, go for Laboy. Kearse would be my third choice. He'd probably be the easiest one to get. Draft early for a long-term DE. I like the choices on FA so far. Everyone with half a brain knew they'd have to pay up the wazoo for Berrian. FA was pretty skimpy on WRs this season. - Some merit to the Jason Taylor suggestion above. Not likely, though, in my humble opinion. No matter what The Vikings do, they'll be those that disagree.

Wow, The fact that we have addressed WR, S and FB already is impressive. We are probably too late on Odom but getting Kearse, even as a veteran backup would be fine by me. Draft DE with the 17th pick, Sign Quinn Gray to compete with T-Jack at QB and I would consider this offseason a success. Not to mention the addition by subtraction we gained with the release of Smith, Williamson and Holcomb.

They need to sign Odom if at all possibe. The one thing they have going for them is that they have the $ to work with. I would say make Odom #1 priority and then go after a DE in the draft. I think the addition of Berrian makes the WR corps a solid group. I'd also like to see them bring back Ferguson.

Kearse is probably the Viking best option. Brad seems to like going after Philly's rejects so my bet is they'll go after Javon Kearse & get him for a bargain too.

If the Vikings have no real shot at a proven veteran defensive end they should not do anything unless they get the player for cheap price.

We need to pick up someone at DE. Rookie DEs are not a sure thing. A solid veteran and hopefully a stud rookie will be the best option.

Chances are there will be a decent DE left by #17 in the draft - Harvey or Campbell for sure. Maybe grab somebody else in free agency...while not a "big" name, maybe somebody serviceable and healthy who can start, while the young guy learns.

Well, this is a real problem... I think that we are all overlooking the best and easiest way to solve this problem. KCC Franchised Jared Allen, we give them an 08 first round pick and a 09 3rd round pick and we've got our problem solved... With the way KCC is trying to rebuild their offense they aren't going to have a choice on taking that or not... It's the closest thing to trading up to take Jake Long that we have and it would be 1/2 the cost in the long run... Thoughts?

Contact Odom and get a visit scheduled, tell his agent what kind of money we are willing to throw at him, i garuntee he wont sign with anyone else untill he at least visits with us.

Odom or a high draft pick to replace Udeze would be the right call. Signing Kearse only on an incentive laden contract, too risky with the knee. Travis LaBoy is comparable to Bryan Robinson, so I say not to sign him as it would cut into his playing time. I really think Robinson is going to have a great year. Word is it that Jason Taylor is going to be traded prior to the draft, could be the Vikings already have a deal in place to solve the DE spot.

Really, this is an easy fix especially with the amount of money we have left... We can pick up Caldwell in 2nd and a Backup FS in the 3rd

OK, we know all posters here are qualified GM wanabes so here's my formula for success: trade whatever draft picks necesary to Miami for their top pick.
Draft Chris Long.
Win.
Strategy: Parcells can use a number of players to field a team. Chris Long is a beast with a fast motor. You know his dad's HOFer Howie. The odds are great Chris will have a long career, will play very hard, be very good, all which makes him a great first round choice and a great fit for the Vikes.

I can't call it,out side of Juston Smith these guys are far from a sure thing.I say sign Kearse to a incentive deal, and see if he can return to form.

they also need a shutdown corner to step in and give the defensive ends more time to get to the quarterback

There are allot of DE out there that are UFA's, that have between 3.5-6 sacks. If all we are looking for is someone to be serviceable for a couple of years while the one we draft at 17 develops, then lets just grab one of them. id hate to mortgage are picks for someone that only has 2 years left, and then have to address the issue again, when the draft may not be that deep at DE
