Bungled chance -

Full story: Baltimore Sun

A season filled with hope began with the Ravens grimacing in pain. The unsettling combination of injuries and turnovers was too much to overcome for the Ravens last night in a 27-20 loss to the Cincinnati ...

What we saw last night was an "Exhibition Game"...something that the Ravens should have been doing in the "Pre-Season" games....testing out Billick's NEW
OFFENSE Playbook for 2007.

The blame for this UNNECESSARY LOSS
rests squarely on BILLICK's shoulders.

One of the fugliest games I have seen played in a long time at the pro level. Nothing went right for the Ravens on offense. Poor call, poor play calling poor executions, turnovers. I was more excruciating then my worse date from h***.

I for one am getting tired of reading all the bashing going on. Give the Bengals defense some credit they were hitting extremely hard and had a big role in creating those turnovers. I had no problem with the 3rd and one pass that McNair threw high due to his groin. Like Billick I am proud as to how the Ravens hung tough despite all the injuries and turnovers. Boller does concern me though if he has to start

yeah, i gotta lay this one on Billick. i'm not saying run him out of town, after all, our Ravens kept an UGLY UGLY **** game against a quality opponent to within one possession, and could have tied it up, but for a bad call by the ref. but it was apparent from the first snap that this team didn't come in prepared, and that's Billick's fault. as Commander-in-Chief, it's his responsibility to field a competant corp of troops ready to do battle. i think this problem extends all the way back to the cream-puff environment of "training" camp. if you don't push players hard in the pre-season, don't sharpen their weapons, don't hone their skills, then they come out dull, flat-footed, undisciplined, slow, penalty-prone, and worst of all, injury-prone from lack of reps and conditioning. the loss of this game really started months ago. but it's just one game, and it's not too late. if Billick can get his act together, and in turn, force his troops to get THEIR act together, hopefully they can crank out some W's against the jets, cards, and browns, and get back into this season strong, ok Raven's Fans?

As good as Musa Smith was running last night, I still can't figure out why BB didn't use him at the goal line? Stupid play calling!

Where is the criticism for the questionable play calling. I counted at least 6 times throughout the game that the Ravens had a 3rd and 2 passed????? Run the ball at least a couple times there and get the first down. And down by the goaline why do you put the ball in the hands of your backup QB when you have your franchise running back in the backfield. Billicks play calling was terrible.

Camp cream puff strikes again. Again the Ravens were too busy dilly dallying in the off season to prepare to the regular season.

Also credit Billick's new play calling. You know he'd rather lose a game 35-31 than win a game 10-7. The call to throw the ball on third and one was inexcusable.

The one person I don't blame is Kyle Boller. He was robbed of his touch down to heap. Again it was lousy play calling. On 2nd and goal at the two, they throw twice instead of trying to run it atleast once. Face it the offense will not improve until Billick has no say in it. He wants flash but we do not have flashy players. For some reason he seems to think he stills has Randall Cunning, Cris Cater and Randy Moss, insted of Steve McNair, Derrick Mason and Mark Clayton. Face it a moron could have run the '98 Vikings offense and been successful.

Oh well I guess its only 5 more months until pitchers and catchers report.

You have to be kidding me. I am reading through various Sun articles and don't see one point made about why we truly lost the chance to win this game.
I am not a Brian Billick basher I'll let you know. But if you read the stats and know the situation, The Bungles did not once-all last year-18 for 18- did not stop a team from getting in the endzone from I think the 10 yard line in. They cannot stop the run from there, and what do we do?? In critical points in the game we decide, by the play calling of Billick, to throw the ball?? Now to add salt on the wound, we decide to throw the ball with a QB cold off the bench, throw to a 2nd string RB out of backfield with all the other weapons we have, and decide not to give it to the guy we just paid $40 million for, much less the guy who had been running like a tank all nite-Musa Smith(possible fumble I know). I know this is the new offense and if we run it is like the years past..not true. The play calling was suspect in critical moments of the game and Billick failed. When he did run..he ran in between the tackles?? Enough said, only Emmitt Smith after the game had the wherewithall to realize this...
I'll be a fan forever, but coach has to know the stats in that situation in the game, or have one of his guys watching the broadcast to get that info.??

The game of football is deterioting to overly burdened analysis, bizarre rulings and calls. A player-receiver penalized for some physical contact, attempting to break, allows me to become more in one with Rugby and evn world cup soccer! The game is sloppy, but why discredit and add insult to Boller after shining? Admittedly,McNair committed poor judgement, but from my angle compensated a number of times. Hands down, Baltimore has more depth across the board, clearly dominated the Rush, and creative defense. Cincinatti = a one man show, and from my view, chad is commercial over-hyped,
Billick, I understand shock value, and risk-taking, but 3:1 and again 3:2, why pass, when the rush is loaded, and the opposition is wise on that?

Why is everyone crying? We lost to the Bengals in Cincy last year and still ended up 13-3.

Just relax. This team always seems to work it out.

Actually, I think the worst call of the game (actually a non-call) was the absolute mugging of Demetrius Williams at the goal line with 10 seconds left in the first half. It happened right in front of the offical as well - ridiculous.

Good thing we spent $40 million on McGahee when Musa Smith is perfectly capable of running for TDs.

Guys c'mon you're starting to sound like Preston and that's sad, not enough hitting in training camp? Every hit we delivered last night was nasty, so I don't want to hear that we are soft. Last night was not our night alongside with the "GREAT" refs we had. We wouldn't have to deal with the ref issue if we didn't turn the damn ball over 5-6 times, give it to our "D" fighting through the injuries. I hope we come out Sunday just punishing everything and everyone that moves from this point on, take out the coaches too if need be Next time it's not going to be that easy Sinci..

Brad I totally agree with you but still leaves a bad taste in your mouth especially when I almost drank a case of Busch Light (yuck). We will punish people guys just don't push the panic button yet. I think McGahee run well he's a different type runner when comparing him between Musa. Look at it this way, Jamal didn't fair any better this past weekend, I blieve he got like 40 yards total, that's bad...

Let face the truth here, the Ravens offense sucks!!! When is the Raven organization going to draft a decent quarterback. When???? Mcnair was great in the past, but, now he needs to retire as soon as possible.

We need to start accepting the fact that the Ravens will not make the playoffs or win a Super Bowl this year.

This is going be a long season for us (Ravens fans); we will be lucky to win 8 games this season. Another season, that the Colts, Patriots or San Diego Charger will be going to the Super Bowl 2008. Depressing!!!!

Coach Billick should take the blame for the loss. When you have a great running back on the team and you have several chances to pound it in the end zone, why do you have Boller pass the ball.
Coach Billick stinks

Face it, when you step to The Nati you're going to get smacked! You are all crying about the interference on Heap, but how about that bogus hold call which made it 1st and goal? YOU STILL COULDN'T SCORE. Can't wait to beat you again in Baltiturd.

What a horrible game! Same script, the defense goes above and beyond the call of duty, and the offense does everything possible to ruin it for the team. McChoke is old, he should retire! I remember his "Glory Days", they are as dated as the aforementioned song! Boller is a joke, we need to sign Leftwich. Oh, and we need an offensive coordinator too. That about tops my shopping list :).

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Aquarius

This is another day when financial matters cause trouble, as Mars reverses in your seventh house. What started off as a minor niggle with a partner or an opponent yesterday could now escalate into a full-blown row, but at least this will give you the chance to get certain things out into the open. Legal issues from the past may become ugly. If you're pointing the finger of blame at someone, don't get so heated that you accuse them of everything under the sun.
