You people are unbelievable! Yes they made a mistake and should be punished for it. But some of you guys sit here and act like you have never made mistakes! So what they get paid to play football, they are still human like the rest of us. No one is perfect.
To sit here and call them thugs makes me wonder about your logic. Does that mean that everybody that gets popped for dui's are thugs or does that apply just to blacks and Jaguar players? To you people screaming about them being role models, just because a jaguar player gets drunk and decides to drive does that mean your when they are old enough will do it too? If they do thats bad parenting. Its not up to these athletes to teach kids right from wrong.
It just shows a lack of judgement and dicipline that these players have, not to mention being loyal to the rest of the team. DUI is something that you have complete control over. It is something that you can avoid, by not doing it. Jack has let this team get out of control, and it shows. Wayne has sat on his butt and cried about ticket sales instead of addressing the real problems with this team, DISCIPLINE. Barnes getting to sit out a half, that is not punishment, sitting out the rest of the season might help him remember he was driving, and where he left his car. How can he remember his plays and keys from week to week, Guess he doesn't drink at work. Players with character, take note: These people are making you look bad, time to take things into your own hands and set down your own rules and punishment (ORDER A CODE RED)..... Jack doesn't have the courage to do it.

No, it is not up to the athletes to teach kids right from wrong BUT kids look up to these guys and will emulate what they see these guys doing. Parents will, in alot of cases, and should stop their children from emulating bad behavior. Now, as athletes being ones who are looked up to by children, I believe they have a responsibility to model appropriate behaviors. No one is perfect but they should at least try to do what is right.

It ain't about the players at all. It's about the whole negative impact that NFL has made on our city. Weaver, just pack up and get the hell out of town where you'll be appreciated. Take Peyton with you.

what negative impact has the NFL had on our city? You cant say something like and not back it up with facts....show me some facts on how the NFL has a negative impact? Other than hundreds of millions of dollars to the local economy, our city being on tv 3 hours a day 16 weekends a year and the fact we are part of something that only 32 cities in the entire country are a part of, face it, jacksonville is made by the Jaguars...

I will be waiting on your facts about the negative impact on the city....

Your point is well taken. I guess what I have to say is that the negative impact is a vicarious result of a pitiful lapdog government that put every phase of the city's day to day functioning on the back burner to go after, coddle and do whatever bidding is demanded to keep the NFL happy (or try to). We have lost millions of dollars in failed projects and ventures that were not properly handled, workers get the shaft at every turn, citizen concerns receive condescending responses, placated comments or are just ignored in favor of the big time big city image that you are so pleased wih. I still say goodbye would be a blessing and take Peyton with you!

So the failed projects are a result of the NFL and the Jaguars? Lost jobs are the result of the Jaguars? Why do you blame the Jaguars on Payton, Tommy Hazouri and Ed Austin Jr, were in office when Jacksonville was awarded the franchise. Jacksonville has wanted an NFL franchise in the early 80's. Im 26 years old, I am a first time season ticket holder, have 2 seats for me and my wife, our friends have 2 seats right beside us, I will never give up my tickets.

JagsFAN,
The negetive impact the Jaguars bring is the rise in crime, particulary gang activity and the murder rate. The misfortune is that when the team gets sold to another city, they will go, but the cancer they brought here will stay. It will be here as long as gold grilles and prison tats are coveted by our youth. When was the last time you saw a doctor, lawyer, denist, or politican looking like a gangsta?

If you can't see that the city fathers from those you mention to the current ineffective miserable losers that we last voted in have let us down disgracefully and yet still fall all over themselves trying to play "big city" via the NFL and prop up a false image to the world, then may I suggest that you go for an immediate eye exam. Yes they play a large role in the failed projects of this city just by holding the forefront of our government's attention. If Peyton and his bums would try as hard to protect us and improve our streets, sewers and drains, our safety and maintaining the ever failing municipal holdings and support the city employees instead of demanding that they make him look good or hit the road, we may be moving forward instead of going backwards at breakneck speed. Get a grip!

So you are blaming the crime on the Jaguars. Good Greif! what a stretch you couldnt come up with one peice of data that proves the Jaguars have anything to do with Gangs or any other crime for that matter

to notafan, again you would be hardpressed to prove that the Jaguars are to blame for failed road projects, I think maybe you need an eye exam and to "get a grip" the Jaguars are a source of Pride for me as a citizen of Jacksonville, yeah there are few bad apples but thats ok, that doesnt keep me from being a fan and always being a fan, and having season tickets from now until the day I die. How are we trying to play "big city" guess what, we are big city, we are one of the luckiest 32 "big cities" in the country.

wait I thought we were in trouble because of the Jags, now we are in trouble because of people like me. I think the problem is we are not the small town we used to be, and you cant stand it....there is some open land in south Ga you can move to and be happy.

No, dear not drunk. I am very capable of spelling correctly. It was a name given to me by my Girl Scout troop for a play they wrote. That is what the all affectionately call me. And you spelled Mama wrong...it only has 1 "m" in it.
