The law the law and say what you will but no judge should read or change the law only the legislature can not some interpetation of some judge. Roger goodell will drop the ax on the williams but the law the law and it should be a fact not an oponion by a judge. go vikings.

just because the league holds the power, doesn't mean that it shouldn't be challenged. Just because they stood to lose personally from the effort doesn't mean they shouldn't have tried. I actually agree with them, and there must be some twist in Minnesota law, because everything common sense wise suggests that the league shouldn't hold them responsible for this incident. How do you know something contains banned substances it that information is not given to you? You try to seek out the information, and the ones who have that info don't give it to you, and then the people that have the info punish you for using the product. Sounds pretty bad to me. But back to your point: That the Williamses shouldn't have tried it. Of course they should have. And they can still appeal. They can ride this thing out for quite a while yet. Should they take the suspensions? Yes. Should they have taken them then? Yes. But they should have the case ongoing.

I agree that if we are looking at probabilities of success, then the chances of winning against the NFL are very low.
But I disagree with advice in your first column that Kevin and Pat Williams should have just rolled over because their chances of winning were low. By doing so they would have been de facto guilty in the eyes of the public. Both of them have children and do charity work with children. What kind of message would that be giving them? We should give up because we think we will lose? We shouldn't stand up for what we think is right?
If everyone followed your original advice the world would be a much worse place. Sometimes right and wrong is the issue.

per Tom Powers: The NFL has unlimited resources and is fueled by the boundless ego power of its owners. Still want to fund a stadium? Scheesh!

Or they're to ignorant to ask a trainer. Why? Because they would have told them not to take it. The Williams' and a few other players didn't want to play by the rules. The only thing that really sucks about this is they held out for one of the cheaters from the Saints, to get a Super Bowl ring.

Fighting a battle that can't be won is just stupid. Just shows how stupid Powers, Phat @ kevin williams, and everyother muduck that backs them are. When powers talks about arrogant owners, he must be talking about ziggy. Pioneer press is your employer tom, Do something they dont allow, and see if you can crawl back to your home county, and get away with it. Phat and kevin are the most arrogant of all. I really admire them for looking like such idiots. Cant wait to see the(wall) fall.

It mite be a long time before Green Bay wins the NORTH as many times as they did with Favre ex favre fan look at there Defence & you can see why i say this & did they get help with there frist pick in the draft "no" they got a guy to protect Aaron like he needed more time to throw the ball! he dont need more time he needs to get rid of the ball faster, stop holding onto it so long. its a bad pick when the packers defence cant stop the pass think about it. & just so you know not only can you drown yourself in a inch of water you can fill yourself with so much hate you cant see staight GO VIKINGS

Uh, Tom, how can somebody like you who has followed this case for nearly two years and written on it extensively get some basic facts about it wrong? The Williams' did not take a "diuretic that was tainted with a substance that was classified as a steroid masking agent." The substance in question, butenamide, WAS the diuretic. Star Caps is an over-the-counter diet pill, not a diuretic. Butenamide is a controlled substance available only by prescription, so Star Caps was violating the law by adding it to the diet pill, though they claim their supplier in Peru added the drug without their knowledge. All diuretics are potential steroid masking agents, so all of them are banned.

Big Blow to the Vikings, who are already facing 3 tough games (and a 4th against a division rival) in the first four games.
