I don't see what good installing a black box on Toyota's will do - the SUA events are not traceable, they don't leave any evidence behind showing that anything happened. Remember the auto specialist (professor) from the univ of south illinois who appears on ABC News and video taped triggering the SUA occurence and when they finally got the car to stop, they checked the computer and there was no code that anything had just happened. He had an ABC News reporter in the car with him video taping everything.
No matter what... installing a brake override system would make the car able to stop because the braking mechanism would be separate from the wiring of the acceleration. Remember....it's a computer that controls our cars and how much gas we give, it's not our foot anymore. It used to be that when you stepped on your gas pedal, your foot controlled how far the pedal would go down. Not any more, NOW your gas pedal sends a SIGNAL from a computer telling how far it THINKS your foot is pressing down. I think we ALL know all too well how many times computers mess up with no sign of what went wrong.
