Players who regularly throw interceptions, who do not pressure the opposing QB, who fumble the ball, and fail to execute should remain quiet

When did jared allen retire? is he the "jared" in the subway commercials?

Chilly says not to worry........ He says he will plug in Hank Basket and you will not even notice Moss is gone. Klink says that if Harvin can't play on that sprained ankle he would move Adrian into the slot........ really.. he said that .
He also said he did not care if he gets fired over Moss , and that he will get
rid of whoever he wants, whenever he want........ Chilly is a mor on and we
will tell him how we feel Sunday at the dome.

They either win or Childress is done. Has to be. Whether thats a good thing or not something has to be done.

Some writers says firing a coach mid season is a bad thing. But with all the talent this team has, in spite of injuries because injuries happen to every team, they should be better than 2-5.

And before anyone says otherwise I'm not sure Fraiser is the answer either. His defense is not what it was last year with basically the same guys.

LOL This is written as if the whole state of Mn is riding on weather this team wins or loses. First of all, win a game and everything changes. Moss leaving , Favre's esposodes, everything will go away with a win. lose and everything will come back to print. We are a reality TV nation now. This crap is what we want to watch on TV and read about in the newspapers and on line. How many people will read an article that starts out talking about X's an O'a. I remember last year at the before Favre came out of retirement all the conterversay and when we were winning all that went away and it was just about football. Start winning and MOSS WHO. But then what would Powers have to write about. I will bet you he has never strapped on a helmet.

Chilly will get a huge payout if he is fired, so no skin off of his back. He is 2-5 under his own authority, and not just because of Randy Moss. He obviously has problems when others have input (review Johnson, Gus F, Robinson, Winfield, Birk, Favre) so he will always have trouble synthesizing players strenghts with his system. By the way, Chilly is 0-8 on the road since his contract extension, so not everything was great at the end of last year either. Once he got extension, Chilly kind of grew a small pair and started standing up to Favre, but that was actually bad for Vikings fans.
The Hard Truth

Dear Mr. Wilf:

I am not the hard truth for nothing. Here it is for you:

None of us wants to lose the Vikings. They are by far the most popular team in town, even when we don't like the team as currently configured. Right now, we like the team but hate the coach. Now, that is "hate" with a small "h" -- football hate, not life hate. Mr. Childress may be a nice guy. We might even like him if he were our neighbor. But he's not. He's the coach of what we consider 'our" team, and, as a coach and a coaching personality, we hate him. We have since the day he arrived. He is arrogant, treats players and the team as if his way is always right, and has shown no sensitivity to the nuances and talents of the men under his control. We're not fools -- we can feel the chill from the players and hear the silence from the locker room when they are asked about the coach. They profess love for their teammates and for the team, but never for the coach. "I just come to work and do my job" is what you hear over and over. He is, as the writer of this column said, either disliked or hated, and these sentiments carry from the locker room to the guys and gals on the streets.

Now, none of this matters to you. But here's what does. Now, hear me. Hear me good. WE WANT THE VIKINGS TO HAVE A NEW STADIUM. Did you get that? But we will oppose it so long as we feel that the team is no longer our team. Remember, we had one of the all time dorks as an owner previously. You have to earn our trust and convince us that this is still OUR team, and not yours.

What is so hard to understand? Do you expect Yankees fans in New York to cheer politely when a player screws up? Of course not. It's not in the cultural character of the New York sports fan. Well, the Minnesota sports fan identifies with the Vikings in a very specific way -- they are US. The DNA of Met Stadium and Bud Grant runs in our sporting veins, even if we are too young to remember either of them.

If you want a stadium, you will make the team US. Then it will be a viable, though probably not an easy, sell. But it will sell. Get rid of Childress. Try Frazier or, with the right God in heaven, get Dungy. Or get Cowher or Gruden or someone we have seen, liked, and respected. If you do, things will change.

Count on it.

I repeat from my entry to a prior article: Do we have to paint a nipple on the top of Childress' head to properly illustrate the boob that he is?? Time to cut this Bald Boob loose, he is the consumate study in futility!! Jerry Burns made more coherent interview comments than this guys does!

"I really can't complain, although I probably should," said Favre, who's expected to make his NFL-record 293rd straight start. "I have a broken foot. I have eight stitches in my chin. I've had tendinitis in my elbow, but I threw it as well as I have all season." (22/32, 259 yds, 0 Td, 1 Int)

Think back to Judge Smails screaming at Al Jervik (Rodney Dangerfield) in Caddyshack: "The man's a menace!". That's how I feel about the Klinkmeister these days.

If the Vikings had been able to win even one of the four road games they lost this year, I don't think things would be in such dire straights, and admittedly they were close in all four games until the end.

However, I think this still boils down to Childress having his team ready. The Moss thing was an absolute distraction. However, the plain fact is this: the Vikings haven't put together a solid performance on both offense and defense in the same game all year long. When the defense looked good earlier in the season, the offense couldn't do anything. Then, when the offense starts moving the ball, they get stymied by a boneheaded Favre throw or a stupid Childress decision. It's been pathetic.

I realize the schedule gets easier now, but you can't convince me that Childress has the respect of his players, not after this last episode. Here's hoping Wilf concludes that a change is necessary now. I hope we win on Sunday, but I also hope that Childress gets booed all game long, and that Mr. Wilf sees that his chances of landing a new stadium get worse every week Childress continues to coach this team.

That Moss wanted out after the 4 game experiment. He saw what playing for Bradley was like, saw the team getting in a deeper hole, and hence schemed his actions and comments that got him discharged. Can't blame him in a way. Hope there are plenty of Fire Childress signs in the dome this weekend.

Sadly, we as fans, are left to decide whether we prefer a short term positive: a win on Sunday or a long term solution: fire Childress immediately. Adding to that dilemma is the fact that these remaining nine games might be the best chance this team has to make a championship run in the foreseeable future regardless of who the head coach is.

It ain't because Klink isn't loved by the players, it's because he's a crappy coach. Have you ever seen anyone so clueless when it comes to challenging calls? Have you ever seen anyone so clueless when it comes to managing the clock at the end of halfs or games. Have you ever seen anyone so clueless when it comes to running plays on 4th and goal?
