Sure, it's a win, but not one I feel good about. Got a lead, then became conservative and predictable in the offensive playcalling, resulting in having to settle for field goals. And the defense? Have no idea there...but giving credit where it is due, Baltimore has a pretty darn good offensive team.
This kind of play (and perhaps more to the point-playcalling) will not get it done in the long run.

Lets hope Winfield is back quick. I did not like what I saw without him in the lineup. He is as important as Jared Allen.

Nothing like winning a game DESPITE your coaching staff. The 4th quarter of this game was the worst playing calling on both sides of the ball I've seen in my many years as a football fan.

I understand a win is a win but this game was looking like a statement game and now it's turned into a huge HUGE Question Mark directed right at our coaching staff. This won't work against the defending champs next week....heck, it might not even work against the Packers in Green Bay the week after. I hope the coaching staff wakes up this week after watching game film. Go Vikings.

Brett had a near perfect game with a 136 passer rating - got to do something with the pass defense - actually no defense at all the 4th quarter - but sometimes you just need some luck/karma to get you to home field advantage - keep on truckin on to Pittsburg - skoll

I can't accept that as a win. It's just not right! Childress and his coaching staff need to get some people in that secondary that can play football besides Antoine Winfield. They couldn't cover (Flacco 385yds passing) and they couldn't tackle (Ray Rice untouched into the endzone from the 33). The whole defense should be embarrassed.

Did Childress think that only 14 points would do it? Talk about a POORLY called game. Everyone be prepared for a disastrous ending for this season. They keep calling a game like this, and we won't be in the post season very long, if at all. That game was pathetic. There is no great, good, or even ok. What does it take to get this coaching staff to understand this?

You sound like a puker fan in disguise; the Vikes didn't play in the capacity they do have but this was a difficult team, esp. their defence. I know they will take this game as a learning tool; hopfully get healthier and focus on the next week's game. A win is a win is the truth; Baltimore did not deserve to win if they could not make a stinking 44 yd. field goal. Peterson is still a beast, getting hurt and coming back in to make that run. skol Vikings!

can any one say "green puker fans"? It sounds like they are cocky coming off a win against the lowly lions and here on the Vikes blog.

"... the Green Bay Packers know what worked in Sunday's 26-0 victory over a Detroit Lions team playing its THIRD-STRING quarterback won't necessarily get them where they want to be at the end of the season."

Everyone wants to blame Chili and I get it with the conservative play calling after getting a lead. This is pretty common for our play calling, but seriously he gave them a two touchdown lead and they blew it. THAT falls on Frazier. Not Chili. He gets more conservative than Chili does when they have a lead. You basically have one guy... Ray Rice to watch the whole game and who beats you... Ray Rice. Come on! I think EJ has taken a step back this year. Thats the LB's job to cover those short passes. If I'm the other team, I'm going after C. Griff and doing the passing game ALL DAY LONG. It's been painfully obvious the this year and years past and I can't believe Frazier hasn't done anything about it. Go look at our pass D over the years. THAT IS ON FRAZIER. NOT CHILI.

I knew coming on here I'd see some dope claiming Childress got conservative.

HOW?!?

What EXACTLY did he do to get conservative?

It wasn't Childress' fault that the defense stopped making tackles.

It wasn't Childress' fault that Baltimore's defense started living up to their billing.

It wasn't Childress' fault that Winfield went down and Paymah played like a high schooler.

It wasn't Childress' fault that Ray Edwards had 3 or 4 off sides penalties that kept Ravens drives going.

Seriously. You 'fans' are absolutely ignorant sometimes. If it rains on your day off, you'll blame Childress. If the stock market takes a hit, you'll blame Childress.

SIX AND OHH. That's all you need to know.

Cole -- I'll pose the same question to you as to the other poster I just called out:

WHAT EXACTLY would you have like Childress to do differently in the play calling? WHAT EXACTLY do you think he DID do differently in the 4th quarter? I just watched the entire game, and I saw NO change whatsoever in the play calling, and they did NOT get 'conservative'.

They just got BEAT later in the game.

Missed tackles, missed blocks, dumb penalties, and a couple unfortunate and potentially costly injuries allowed Baltimore to get back in it.

That's a combination of poor play by the PLAYERS, and bad luck on the injuries.

NOT Childress' doing. Get real. Waiting for the most intelligent response you can muster...

Couldn't agree with you more friend; I live outside of minny and get enough of the crap from their fans. do you think the last week win the steelers had against the Lions comes down to anything other than that they still won? Besides, at the end of the season the Vikes record is all that matters.

Another thing --

When Winfield was replaced by Karl Paymah, he got burned on more than a couple passes.

Pretty soon, the safeties started playing back to help Paymah on the corner, and it opened up the middle of the field for the short passes and all those big runs.

Perhaps you clowns would rather they had kept Paymah isolated out there in space with a WR and QB who were eating him for lunch?

Under the circumstances, I'm not sure it's even fair to point the finger at Frazier. I blame an unfortunate injury to Winfield. THAT was when the game to a sudden turn in Baltimore's favor.
