Wonder if he'll take those 8 career sacks in 8 years with him?

Depth-Schmepth. This guy actually complained in an interview about not wanting to come to Minnesota when they invited him in before the 2003 draft, because (and I quote...) "the lockers were ugly".

I'm not losing any sleep over this. Any 300 pound carcass they can drag in from off the street couldn't possibly do a worse job.

If we lose kennedy WE DEFENTLY WILL NEED ANOTHER DEFENSEIVE LINEMAN IN A HURRY. With so many 72 free agents and college players record number not graduated yet who chose the draft we should get some good players HOPEFULLY. GO VIKINGS.

do these guys actually get it? god i miss football of the 70' and 80's before free agency. it was about the team. period. Sure a team had a guy locked in but we would not have had the run we had without keeping a solid core together. I am all for a guy making a buck but why would a guy like Kennedy want to leave a team that is on the verge of a possible super bowl appearance for one that is a proverbial celler dweller like the Bills?? How much money is enough money? Would you not rather be associated with a winner? God I dont get it. Money has ruined all sports to a degree.

Don't let Jimmy go. He was better than Pat Williams for most of the season -- and he's younger. Give him first team money if necessary.

Evans was the primary back up? For who? Kennedy played on the non-running downs for P. Williams. He did that all year. He had great push up the middle, held his own on runs. Evans rarely was on the field except for when Kennedy hurt his thumb at the end of the season. I don't want to suggest that Kennedy is irreplaceable, but he's very, very solid... and in my opinion I thought he played better than P. Williams for most of the season.

If the Vikes lose Kennedy they almost certainly have to draft a DT in the first round. Either Williams from Tennessee or the HUGE dude from Alabama.
Whether we sign LT or not, we need to start hearing about DB, OL, DL potential
free agents that we're interested in.

Anybody who says let him go either doesn't watch football or know his game - he can play and is a more important re-sign that Taylor - by FAR.

Jimmy would be nice to have on the team. But if he wants a chance to start I can see why he would consider the bills. But I hope he thinks this through it is the bills. I was hoping the bills would do the NFL a favor & keep TO there It was nice not having to hear much about him. He could be the most overrated WR ever. He drops 50 % of the balls thrown to him.

He wants the Bills since they too are 0-4 in the Super Bowl

If he was better tha PW, he would have started in his place.

While I *do* want Kennedy to stay on to backup Williams and buy the team time to find a better long term replacement when PW retires, I still don't ever want to see them overpay. All that does is make it harder to fill other needs that come up.

I also think that Kennedy's 3 sacks in 2009 (his career best for a season) had everything to do with the players alongside him. I can vividly remember two of them coming on plays where his fellow D-linemen blew up the pocket and flushed the QB right into Kennedy's big fat arms. I still give him credit, but the point is, I don't think he *caused* those sacks as much as they landed in his lap...

If he stays for the right price, cool.

Another thing to think about --

On the Kennedy vs. Fred Evans debate, the Vikings actually tendered Evans this year at the 2nd round pick pay level, pretty high for a backup player who sees little action on the field. Meanwhile, they're letting Kennedy shop his services before locking him up with a new contract.

I can only guess why they went that route, but I'm sure they have their reasons. Who knows? Maybe they see Evans as having a better future in MN. Maybe Kennedy doesn't have a great attitude or work ethic. Bottom line is, they offered a pretty high tender for one player we rarely see on the field, and are allowing the other to look elsewhere. That tells me something.

It is never a good sign when you start to lose key role players from you team without replacing them.
