Wrong move Mangini. Go out and find something new to bring into the system. Don't bother with old, broken toys. The offense needs work, we know. Dump Pennington and start talking to the Chargers about Rivers. Find a quarterback for the fourth pick, preferably Brady Quinn, or of course Lienart or Young, should they be available.

The Jets are going to have to become a defensive team, we all know that. But if the offense can get small chemistry going like they had not 3 years ago, we'll be fine. A quarterback with accuracy for slot or post routes will setup the run better, and for a running game that's coming of age at the same time as the passing, that's a vital asset. Baker's played beautifully, but they haven't used him as the weapon he can be. Take the focus of Coles and use the TE position more. This gives the new QB more things to choose from, more versatility, and allows him to grow for the future.

So do the world a favor Jets, just stop with Pennington. He's got the mind, he's got the heart, but he doesn't have the arm for it. I'm not taking anything away from him, of course not, he's done amazing things. But he's busted up, he should truly just retire and save himself the possible injury once more.

The Jets will try to renegotiate paying only a couple million to Pennington first before they just cut him because of they cap hit they will take. The chargers will not let go of Rivers because of Brees' injury and Quinn isnt even in the draft

Well, there goes that arguement.

If Pennington can't take a major salary slash, then there's nothing else to be done. From what I've heard, he's not being as understanding as they'd like, and is putting up something of a fuss over what the organization wants to pay him (I read 4 mil w/8 mil bonus, I could be wrong)

As for the draft QBs, after doing some more looking into it, Cutler looks like a pretty good choice.

Chad still can play. He wasn't real healthy all of last year. But, he needs to take a major pay cut. If I was him, I would give up what they are asking but argue for more O-linemen. When he has time, he can pick apart a defense. Coles, Baker, etc are more than good enough with Pennington and a solid line will give Curtis room to run. The offense can be back to what it was 2 years ago.

Chad is a smart player, I am sure he is taking the cut next year but doesn't want to get screwed in the years after...assuming he stays healthy. Maybe I am crazy but I think we should address the o-line, this season was terrible because of them. It was a big part of Chad getting hurt, and Curtis not getting his 1000 yards. Look at Chicago terrible QB situation, average running backs and recievers, and they still won 11 games because of a great D and good O-line. Brooks is not bad, if anything did pretty good considering the situation. This years offense consisted of him getting knocked on his a$$ every play, a running game that floundered , and the worst case of butter fingers I have ever seen from people who should be good recievers. Basically I would take a healthy Chad anyday over a 1st round QB that may really suck, especially with Brooks there as a back up.

Chad was good. If they plan on keeping him they should trade their pick up for Reggie Bush. A rotator cuff takes two years to fully rehab at least. Chad will not have a cannon next season, but he will still be very smart, and no one can get 15-20 yards out of a swing or screen pass better than Bush.
Personally I would cut Chad down to about 2.5 a year to avoid cap penalties and develop Brooks, he is unrefined but has heart. Get him some kind of o-line though.

I don't think Chad would take a dime if he didn't think he could be a productive QB. Why the Jet's let Coles go three years ago after the season these guys connected on is still a mystery, but he is back and they are money, IF Chad's arm is healed. I wouldn't give up on Chad till Chad gives up; he will know and he will do what is best for the Jets.

Bullshit. Chad is one of the best things that has happened to the jets in years. He does have the mind, he does have the heart and he will have the arm once he recovers. He will go back to the quarterback he knows he can be and he will fight for the jets till we get back to a supwerbowl win. I know this sounds crazy, but Im a believer. I can put my heart on this guy. #10 I BELIEVE
