Love the article. I think it accurately conveys the exact opposite of my emotions after the game.

Dave Bennett is not a real coach. He knows nothing about the X's and O's of football. He has the wool pulled over CCU's eyes. He is the most overpaid coach in the nation. Bennett is laughing all the way to the bank.

Coastal fans you better prepare yourself for a long, tough season. No run defense, little to no pass offense and nonexistant defensive coaching mean we are facing another loosing season. We will soon see weather we have some character or quitters!

First of all, the whole, "Sons of Chaucer" thing is played out Horgan. As is referring to the campus as being in the "wilds of Conway."

And yes, I do agree with the above comment about Coach Bennett. I think he is out of touch with the current state of college football. It seems that he delegates too much power to his assistants and is merely a figurehead. He doesn't even wear a headset for pete's sake?!? Not saying that wearing one is a prerequisite for being a great coach, but it shows that you are very involved in the play calling. I saw the quote where Bennett says that he wanted to go for it on a crucial play, only to be talked out of it by his assistants. Step up and show some authority as head coach Dave, make the call yourself! If you wore a headset and communicated with your assistants, maybe you could do a better job of this.

I believe that at the very least, if things remain as they are now, we need a shakeup among the defensive coaches. Someone has to go, whether its the defensive coordinator or the d-line coach. We fans and alumni need to see some commitment from Bennett that he can hand one of his Catawba buddies a pink slip and get this defense moving in the right direction.

Finally, I have to question the decision to bring in Richardson on 3rd down inside the Colgate 10-yard line early in the game. What the heck? Richardson is not a running threat, and McDowall had done a good job up to that point. Again, shoddy coaching decisions from our vaunted staff.
