If all of the right players stay healthy, I think this year's team is going to prove much better tahtn what we've had in the past. I wasn't overjoyed to see who made the final roster and who didn't, but then I wasn't at training camp all summer, so hopefully the coaches saw some things that we didn't. As for the job security of Savage and Crennel, I'll take the same line that I did with the QB's. There has already been a lot of change on the team this year. At some point you have to keep some continuity - and I just don't see the Browns moving forward by dumping the head coach in mid season. (I think we've been there before.) Besides, at this point I just want to see some overall improvement with the team. I don't expect them to go from the bottom to the top this year. I dream of it, but I don't expect it.

The Browns don't even want to win this year because they want Cowher as the head coach next year. Crennel is a lame duck this year and he knows it, anything short of a Superbowl win and he is looking for another job. It would be nice to see them be competitive this year, but I think we have to expect 4 wins from them and consider 6 wins a huge success. They'll fire Crennel, and it will be time for Cowher to rebuild again next year, so don't expect too many wins from the Browns in the near future

I dunno. Savage says he likes what Crennel is doing. I suppose Lerner would have the final say, but as long as the stadium is selling out and fans are buying merchandise, he might be content to go ahead and play this hand out to see if this latest rebuild has any promise. Frankly, until we've seen the same personnel and system in place for at least two consecutive years, we won't be able to tell if the problem is with the coaching or the players. Besides, I've don't think I could embrace Cowher while he still smells so strongly of Pittsburgh. And if he was such a Godsend to coaching, wouldn't the Steelers have a few more titles?

Cowher......15 years and one Super Bowl win....Browns fans need a little patience...we want to fire coaches every two years...how can they ever build to win that way? Cowher could fail next time just like Joe Gibbs!

You are an idiot. Cowher has twice as many Superbowl appearances (2) than the Browns have had in their exiistence (0)

I assure you that if Crennel takes the Browns to a Super Bowl loss or even a playoff loss this year, he will be back in 2008.

Keep Crennel this season. The Browns are improving. Starting over will only set back the process AGAIN! I am expecting serious gains this season

You are the idiot. With the talent and # of AFC Championship games the Steelers hosted, they should have made a lot more than 2 SB appearances and won more than one during Cowher's career. You think hiring Cowher is all of sudden going to put the Browns in trhe SB? You have way too much man love for Cowher!

Hmmm. So, by your calculations, 2x0=2. Guess math wasn't offered in your elementary school.

I didn't say Cowher would automatically put the Browns in the Superbowl. Someone posted that Cowher is overrated. I wrote that he has twice as many SB appearances as any Browns coach in the SB era, is that statement not true?

I agree with you, but I think that Crennel has to go at least 8-8 to save his job.

Bill Cowher had to rebuild that team almost every year because the Rooney's would not pay the bucks to keep personnel and thus lost many fine players to free agency. That puts a huge load on any coach and especially one in a small market like Pittsburgh.. somehow Cowher did it and was very successful and kept them very competitive! There is no doubt that he is one of the best.. there is doubt that he would come back to Cleveland (remember he was a Brown) in the event that Crennel would be out. He'll be in great demand after sitting out his year.

The Browns are too cheap to make Cowher an offer after Romeo fails this season. They will be looking for another cheap inexperienced head coach.

Browns roster isn't very good. They don't have enough good players to even be competitive this season.

Romeo will be gone by the bi-week when they haven't won a game, and the temporary coach will play Brady Quinn.

GO STEELERS for 2007, maybe next year I can expect something from the Browns !!!

I accept tha Cowher is a good coach, I was just overstating in reaction to an overstatement (... The Browns don't even want to win this year ...). Even so, I don't think swapping out more people, continuing more rebuilding annd installing a rotating door in Berea is the answer. Any way, thanks for all of the peace, love and understanding.

Cowher, Browns coach? I don't think so. That is not going to happen. I remember the radio host on WKNR 1220 make that commet with nothing to back it up and the next day it was all over the national news. Next year, Jim Brown is going to play football again for the Browns!!!!!! Ha i beleave that, don't you???

What are you guys who have a Cowher man-crush smokin'? It's pretty common knowledge that, if he decides to come back to coaching, he'll go to the New York Giants. Plus he's still loyal (to a degree) to the Rooneys and wouldn't embarrass them by going to coach for one of their arch-rivals.
