Here's what else we know: The NFL is an unforgiving place for rookie quarterbacks. You sure got that right! Look how they are treating Charlie Frye. Throw the talented rookie quarterback in the game who didn't even have much experience playing in big college games with an adversarial veteran quarterback and no offensive protection and then use him as the scapegoat for losing seasons. While you're at it, why not reward the experienced NFL coach and general manager with contract extensions? I understand it was incredibly lucky to get Brady Quinn the way we did in the draft and if they weren't screwing over Charlie Frye in the process, I might be as excited as everyone seems to be but this reminds me of the post-Modell era when lack of integrity was equated with the Browns. Don't expect loyalty from this fan if you treat Charlie Frye unfairly.

The Browns should hire Kosar or Gary Danielson to work with all our young QB's since a veteran QB seems out of the question.

Your loyalty should be to the team, not to the player. The coaches and the organization have the duty to put the best players on the field at all times. Not just the local boy who really isn't that talented. Is Frye a great story? Yes Is Frye a great QB? I don't think so!

Terry,
That quote from a year ago sums it up doesn't it?``preserving, protecting and promoting'' A year ago they handed the franchise to Frye with a horrible line. Now they are giving up on him? I love that we got Thomas, but we could of used so much more instead of Quinn, but hopefully I'm wrong.

What has Frye done to be entitled the starting job? This sense of entitlement makes me laugh. I like Frye and think he is tough but does it really matter who is under center if and when things get turned around?

What has Quinn done to be entitled the starting job? Frye took the beats last year behind a poor line. He at least deserves a shot to prove himself behind the new line.

He'll get his chance, and Quinn will be the starter no later than Game 3 v Jamarcus & the Raiders. Book that.

Cleveland fans talk about loyalty...How about some wins? I dont care if it's Frye, Quinn, Anderson, or Johnny Unitas' corpse under center. WIN some games, and beat the piss and black!!

Frye, staring down his receiver, holding on to the ball too long, and running into the pass rush...Yeah sure sounds like he deserves a chance to prove himself behind a new line. I never said Quinn is entitled, he has to earn it too and he isn't conducting himself as if he is entitled, Frye is the one who is hunkered down not saying anything. I really don't care who is QB. I just want to win finally!!!

How's about this...whatever QB that can post more than 3 wins in a season can have the job. Or how about any QB who can beat a division rival.

JC why are so many of you all so sold on Frye? I wanted Frye to do well 2 years ago but he hasn't done jack to prove he worthy of bein anointed the starter. Maybe if he had half a brain to get rid of the ball in under 4 seconds or throw it away every once in a while he wouldn't have taken such a beating (like all you Akron allumni are so quick to point out). The guy wouldn't know a blitz was coming if the DC of the other team ran out on the field and told him.

The bottom line is we want the best QB to win the job. I have a feeling that the best QB on this roster is going to be #10. Could I be wrong...of course...but I want the Browns to win games. If we win games I don't care who is chucking the damn ball.

I have an idea. How about if Chaz Frye starts the season washing Reverend Pluto's pope hat. Then if he does that really effectively, he may get promoted to either altar boy or choir master. Enough Reverend. Spare us the Frye nonsense. Time to move on.

Mrs. Frye (aka "a concerned neighbor"): Charlie will be home for supper on time. He's a good boy. He will be inducted into the akron sports hall of fame with gerry faust next year.

Terry and other fans are severely underestimating the talent and pro-prep experience Brady has had. How quickly you forget the anaemic "offense" that was absolutely UNWATCHABLE last season and the year before that. Quinn comes in with a talented line, talented receivers and a legit running back. I'm done with the Frye experiment, and the Browns are, too, or they wouldn't have made this trade.

PLAY QUINN NOW, FROM DAY ONE. It cannot be ANY worse than the drech we've endured for years now. And at least there's hope for the near future with him.

I think the way to handle Frye, Anderson, and Quinn is a pretty standard thing.

You start Frye, and if he can move the ball and get you a win, keep him in. But if he has problems and it is 20 to 0 in the second quarter, bring in Anderson for a come back, and then Quinn when #2 cannot do the job.

Or even if the game is close say 3points, maybe that is too sluggish and you bring #2, then #3..

And go thru the season.

At least he wasn't stupid enough to ride a motorcycle in a parking lot which cost the team a season. I wonder if they were stupid enough to pay him while he was out as they were to fire New England's current coach.
No Kent...he's just stupid enough to run around 20 yard behind the line of scrimage like a chicken with his head cut off while 4 blitzers are breathing down his neck. Then instead of throwing the ball to the blonde in the 4th row...he decides to chuck it into triple coverage in the endzone with his noodle arm (thanks barroid) and cost us a game.

Wheelie may have went all evil kennival in the parking lot on his rice burner, but at least he sacked up and the next year and put up 89 catches on one stick. 89...that's something only Ozzie has done.

For Frye to put up a season equivelant to that he would have had to throw 20+ TDs, less than 10 picks, 3500+yards and have a QB rating over 88. Anyone see that happening...didn't think so.

Dude go to football 101 @ Berea with all the women. You need it.

Get the best Veteran QB available in free agency who is willing to teach Quinn ane Frye. Poor Tim Couch never had this luxury as well as a good offensive line and running attack if we do not get both a Veteran QB to lead, teach and take pressure off the young QBs we have both Frye and Quinn will be as bad or worst than Couches career here YOU CAN BANK ON THAT you heard ME!

I think if the new version of the Cleveland Browns wouldnt have screwed over Bernie Kosar he would be the logical choice to coach a Charlie Frye and Derrick Anderson as well as being the offensive co-ordinator. Remember his mentor Lindy Infante? Kosar was and is and offensive genious and he had a "great offensive line" to protect him. Some people said Kosar was to slow, and he through the ball sidearm, and sometimes staggard and stumbled around, but his line protectected him and he won. Something of a luxury that Couch,Holcomb, Frye & Anderson havent had. Yet!

Well stated. The real point to ponder is the front office leadership. They know their days are numbered and are grasping for anything. Romeo doesnt finish the season and the "Savage" will be outsed a year later. If the browns are serious about winning, these two are not the foundation. Next thing you know, most fans will be asking to "draft" the other ND boy named Weiss.

Kent, you're biased, and you're wrong. But keep going, dont let the facts get in the way of a good argument.

FACT: Charlie throws ducks, the kind of lobs that make Defensive Backs drool all over their jerseys. It's like he's throwing a balloon.

FACT: Charlie single-handedly lost game 2 last season (Baltimore, 4 yard line, perfect strike to Chris McAlister).

FACT: Derek Anderson beat a PLAYOFF team behind that "horrible" line (Kansas City).

...Charlie is a gutty guy, the kind of kid we Cleveland fans get suckered into rooting for, and I know, Kent, your heart is broken right now. I'll send flowers. But honest to God, this Frye loyalty BS needs to stop. Brady Quinn will be on that field by game 3 v the Raiders...believe it.
