Colts embrace Sanders' return

Full story: The Indianapolis Star

The Indianapolis Colts' defense was healthy in 2005, and it showed: It was No. 2 in the NFL in points allowed and No.

On the defensive side of the ball, with the exception of Simon and Sanders, it is not difficult to replace mediocrity with more of the same.

The Patriots won consecutive Super Bowls in seasons where they were forced to use over 40 different starters due to injuries. If the Colts allocated more cap room to the last third of their roster, injuries would be less of a problem. That pretty passing game costs them big-time in other less glamorous football functions.
The Colts should have cashed in last year, when their absence of injuries was an NFL anomaly.

The Colts are 6-0 and have played some decent teams. The Broncos owe the Colts though and should win at Denver. If the Colts don't take December off again(to rest for the playoffs)they should win the AFC.

Sanders return will add some pop to the defensive backfield. I think Sanders is happy to be back, too. He'll be anxious to show his stuff.

One thing's for certain, the defense definitely has to get better against the run. Especially in this game; force Plummer to scramble and throw...he's prone to errors when he's not safely in the pocket.

Denver is 31st in scoring offense at 13 points a game. I think Sanders is going to make a huge difference in stopping the big run plays and Denvers great defense (they've played three Pop Warnder offenses, Baltimore, Cleveland, and Oakland) hasn't seen anything like the Colts this year. Peyton always comes up big in non-Playoff big games. The Colts win this one easily.

your facts are wrong..the bears were number 2 in the nfl last year in points allowed..they were number one but lost the rakings the last week of the season because they sat the starters(Tampa Bay got the 1 spot)..I'm shocked to see colts fans lying about there teams defensive stats ans rankings of course if I was rooting for that defense I would lie to myself all the time..here's one you might try.."self, we will be awsome once Bob Sanders comes back!!"

Mark- How many time are you and Colts fans going to say "Colts should win the AFC this year" Colts had there best chance last year with home field advantage, but as usual, a more physical, better defensive team( Pitt) came into the homo dome and punked peyton and the Colts.

There are so many good teams in the AFC, its anyones game. And the Colts have beat 1 good team, NY, thanks to some bush league calls. Denver will run all over that pathetic defense and control the clock.

Hey Nick- Your right, Denver has not faced a great offense yet, but you forgot to mention the Colts have yet to face a great defense like Denver yet. Tatum Bell will have 150 yards and eat the clock and keep Manning off the field, the way the Pats beat the Colts all the time.

Sorry, for Mark about "Colts should win the AFC was for Nick who is a typical Colts homer !!!

Colts fans- Is this the year, I have been hearing that since Manning got hear. Manning is a joke like the Colts.

Super Bowl pick # 1 Ravens vs Bears

Super Bowl pick # 2 Broncos vs Giants

There will be no Colts in the Super Bowl as usual, get a defense and a quarterback who can win big games first.

"...a quarterback who can win big games..."

Steve McNair? Rex Grossman? Jake Plummer? Eli Manning? Are you trying to say they've won more big games than Peyton Manning? Maybe Steve McNair, but I think Peyton has been in more big games than McNair. He's won a few, but he has lost more than McNair based on how many he's played.

Perhaps we should come up to the "dead city" Detroit in our Hondas, Toyotas and Hyundais and root for a winner like the Lions. Nice city you have up there. My girlfriend asked me to kiss her where it smells so we drove to Detroit.

As long as the Broncos control the clock in the second half, especially final 2-4min. they will win. If not, Manning directs another game-winning drive
