2 cornerbacks step out; Jackson and Hayden step up

Full story: The Indianapolis Star

Anyone who believes the Indianapolis Colts woke up one morning last month surprised to discover they would be replacing both of their starting cornerbacks from the Super Bowl haven't been paying attention.

If i remember correctly, Kelvin Hayden scored a defensive TD in the Super Bowl. I wish I could be so horrible that I could be drafted in the NFL and play on a Super Bowl championship team and actually score in one. Many players get there and don't win and not to mention scoring.

By the way, everyone overlooked the Colts last year when Edgerrin James left. Look what happened there...

Morris didn't even start most of the season on the worst D in the league.
It wasn't until the enD ot the year & they had tried every other option that he got a chance to play.
HE IS MORE PATHETIC THAN STEVE EMTMAN!

Hey Larry,
When you have the best offense in the world your typically going to when quit a few games. When you have the worst D you don't win as many SB's as you should.
Please don't tell me your this nieve; why do you think he is the least payed MLB in league.
If you honeslty think he has any talent what-so-ever you need to re-read what I wrote earlier.
Back to the CB's. Who cares if your a rookie & start every game; THEY HAVE NO OTHER OPTIONS! Sanders, he hits hard &....?
Im not sure what the first sentence meant because it didnt make any grammatical sense. I will finish your last sentence for you, though, as it seems you trailed off.....Sanders, he hits hard & makes game winning interceptions that give his team home-field advantage against the Pats. or Sanders, he hits hard & wins super bowls. or Sanders, he hits hard and is the heart and soul of the defense.

And personally I think its impressive for a rookie to start almost every game of the season.

And Rob Morris is the least payed MLB in the league becuase we give all our money to the offense. Maybe that is the right approach. Maybe not. But ask yourself how much Steve McNair would have liked the Ravens to throw some more money at their offense when they were going three and out on every drive in the playoffs.

For an alleged Colts fan you are a pretty good hater. Or is that hate for former 1st round picks that don't live up to your expectations or another reason? Is Morris a superstar? No. Is he a serviceable component on a defense that is designed to bend and not break while allowing the offense to get all of the glory. Yes. Sanders brings a swagger and a confidence to the team that is infectious and necessary to play at a decent level.

"Thats why I am still in shock how they won a SB with that defense. I guess it was just a case of K.C. and Baltimore playing there worse games of the season. NE had no problem driving on that D, it was there D that cost them the game" WoW
its easy to say that baltimore and Kc played their "worst games" when you lose. but think about it, the raven took a wanna be almost in steve mcnair and got just that, almost and wanting to be in the superbowl. and all that great defense the ravens had and the all world linebackers got them even less than the raiders. at least the raiders sit at home (like the ravens) watching the colts win it all and anticipating jamarcus russel. what did the ravens accomplish with their all world defenses? even less. then thomas jumps ship to new england and ray lewis is old now. i see problems in baltimore. and willis magahee? stays hurt too much. it is written," first remove the beam from your own eye before trying to remove the splinter from your brothers eye"

dude you don't have apot to piss in...last time I checked colts played a tough 16 game schedule including the toughest final 4 games of the season, not to mention the toughest playoff schedule. Every news media outlet in the nation saying they were the worst at stopping the run yada yada blah blah and your boy mcnair gets older not better year after year

You guys won 1 Super Bowl and now you have 1 of the best D's in the league ??? Settle down there buddy, you won a Super Bowl, that means nothing for this year. Your D is pathetic. And by the way, winning the AFC South 3 times is not saying much. that division is horrible. Houston is just pathetic and Tennessee after coming on at the end of they year last year, lost all of there help for Vince young in the offseason and had a horrible draft.
baltimore stat wise was top 3 if not 1 in the legue in defense...alot of good it did them. Bottom line is colts did what they needed to do to win and yeah maybe they won't repeat as superbowl champs, but it won't be because of idiots like you who don't know their own asses from a hole in the ground

Wake up jackass, the worst QB ever to play in a SB was Kerry Collins when the Giants played the Ravens that also happens to be the lowest watched SB in the history of the league. Do you call Ray Lewis good? If he is good then the COLTS "rookie" running back must be great-he made that B I T C H Lewis look like a all talk P U S S Y. Hey Ray how is that back, I guess that rookie RB is tougher than you thought

"worse game of the year"??? did i see that two or THREE times? you mean their worST game of the year? well, yeah maybe, but I might call it a terrible time to choke. and nieve?!?!?! what is that? i'm too naive to understand. after hearing how the colts lucked into wins 1, no 2, no 3, no 4 times, it gets pretty old. Bottom line, 4 wins. if you can't swallow it, at least lern howe too spel it!

2 were Champ Bailey and Chris Macallister ! Colts cornerbacks are not the greatest, but the biggest concern for the Colts is that laughable linebacking group led by the pathetic Rob Morris who wouldnt start for any other team in the league ! Will be a bad year for that Indy D.
Anyways, I am a Ravens fan, props to you guys for beating Baltimore, although you should thank Steve Mcnair for throwing a pick on the 1 yd line. Props to finally pulling 1 out of your ass and beating New England in the playoffs. And all you Colts fans should thank the lord you got to play Rex Grossman in your 1st and last Superbowl !
Colts wil go 10-6 this year and a 1st round playoff loss. The AFC is brutal and the teams that were as good as you guys last year, Baltimore, New England, San Diego got better while you got worse, especially on D, and a few teams that had a few games that cost them, Cincy and Pittsburgh will be very good also which means Indy you aint shit.
Wow...thanks for clarifying that you're a Baltimore fan dude!....and that 1 int cost you the NFL championship? Your brain cells must have a lot of room to ride horses...I'll make a donation to the March of Dimes special needs drive in honor of you.

Enough of your hating Wow. You're just mad because your weak a ss Baltimore Buzzards got wopped in their own backyard. The Colts are still the team to beat and WILL be better this season. Why do you think Belichek went and got Randy Moss? Because he knows he will not be able to stop us on offense this year. Gonzalez is an upgrade over Stokely (That's scary). Double Marvin and Reggie if you dare! The only team I am worried about for the Colts in the AFC is San Diego. Your Buzzards are done! Tell ray Lewis to give it up and go find Brian Bozworth so they can start his career making horrible B movies. LOL

Are you crazy if you look at the problem we had last year it was the run defense that's what we fixed with quintin and corey simon might be back and not mentioning booger Mcfarland, not to mention Anthony Gonzales who ran a 4.29 in the 40 on campus, and just to talk about the pats how are you gonna give the ball to moss and wes and stallworth and washington at the same time not to mention their first round draft pick last year chad, and the chargers got a whole new coaching staff so i can tell you that they are gonna have a rough start, and baltimore is never gonna be better than us cause all they have is defense and you seen how we handled that last year....

Put down the pot pipe. That D will be horrible. I am still in shock that D won a Superbowl, but you did get to play Rex Grossman and the horrible Bears O for the Superbowl. You were lucky Manning finally beat Brady in the playoffs in a shoot and out. You were lucky that Steve Mcnair played his worse game of the year when the Ravens D held the Colts O to 5 field goals, 2 given to them by a turnover and a big punt return.
COLTS D IS SAD, you have to have good linebackers to have a good D, BAD NEWS- ROB MORRIS IS YOUR BEST LINEBACKER !!!
Are you crazy the colts have a pretty stout defense and just to let you know the defense will be much better next year, i never believed in cato cause he was a freakin safety in college that was a bad move by the colts, but now we have true linebackers like keiaho, and dont forget that morris was a first round draft pick, and brackket is pretty good, and we still have young rookie linebacker that can play like sessions for example, and no you dont need good linebackers to have a good defense as like as you have a stout line and that's what we will have next with freeny, simon being bcak, mcfarland, mathis...

The Ravens must have had sucked last year, how did they get better? by acquiring McGahee? Look for another LONG and DISAPPOINTING year. Oh well you can always reminisce about Johnny U and the Glory Days. Willis Mcgahee will tear the Ravens apart just like TO did in Philly. By the end of the year the Ravens fans will be saying Willis McGAYe.

Simon is not coming back, but your right, the D will be better this year. D-line has a nice mix of smaller quick DT's like Brock, Kleco and Reid. They also have some large run stoppers like: McFarland and Pitcock. They signed a lot of UDFA's like Quinton Echos, Edward Johnson and Ramel Meekins a couple of these guys have a chance to make the team.
As normal the D lost a lot of starters, again, but the system in place has proven it can get most the new guys ready to contribute. The LB's didn't get whole lot of help in the draft. They did sign 5 UDFA's. 4th rounder Clint Sessions will contribute on special teams this year and should be able to work his way into the starting line up in couple of years. The starting LB's Bracket, Keiaho and Morris are not going to be mistaken for pro-bowlers, but, should be ok.
Jackson and Hayden are going to great, they have the size and hitting ability a C2 corner needs but they also have great speed. The Safety’s should be awesome.
Can't wait for the season to start.
