poorest call of the year with only two yards to go and two downs to make it....who made that call?? poor coaching or was it manning again?

Tony Dungy lost the game! He never should have challenged the first time, it was clear he would lose that one! He should have challenged the call when the receiver's toe was out of bounds and that would have turned the games around! HIS FAULT!!

and how does a team like san diego who came into the playoffs @.500 ranking near dead last against the pass contain wayne, clark, harrison and "gonzo"? i think manning may have been sacked once so, its not like our youthful inexperienced line didn't do a pretty good job with its replacements in protection. why didn't dominic rhodes see more time? how is it we couldn't zero in on the one man all-purpose yardage "midget" well enough to square up one good lick on him?
i think it is called a point spread?

I agree to a point with Rick. It is def. time for a new running back and some new linebackers. The Second string linebacking crew just plain flat sucks. When freeny and mathis were both in there it was great, take them both out and they could not stop anything. I say trade adai for a first and second round pick. Then use the draft for nothing but defense. Then possibly get the edge back from Arizona for a year, then draft a running back.
Sounds like coaching if what you say is true. If NFL players can't play a whole game in the playoffs there is something wrong. I am on the river working so only saw a bit of the game but why would they take them out if their backups suck so bad? I think coaches overcoach sometimes with all the situation subs and all that crap. Let the best players play and live or die with them. No excuses!

I think the loss can be mostly blamed on the terrible play call on 3rd and 2 at the Colts 9 yard line with less than 2 minutes in regulation. All we needed was 2 yards and a couple of victory formations. Why did they call a shotgun formation with an empty backfield?!? Anyone with half a sense about football could see that they would be bringing everything including the kitchen sink at Manning on that play! Therefore, sack on Manning. I agree that they should have passed in that situation since their running game was horrible, but NOT OUT OF THE SHOTGUN WITH NO EXTRA BLOCKERS!! Snap the ball from under center and throw a quick pass to Clark or Wayne in a crossing route. Game over. Colts win. That was the probably the worst play call I've ever seen Tom Moore make. I don't know what he was thinking on that one. Anyway, still a great season and we'll try again next year. Peace.

There is a lot of irony in these "opinions." Isn't it ironic that the team that is notorious for receiving "homer calls" is now complaining about officiating? Isn't it ironic that we praise Manning for calling his own plays on the field, but blame Moore for the 3rd and 2 play?

The defense lost this game - not the coaches, not the officials. They have never been able to stop the run (except for a rare game here and there), and the Chargers have always been a "run first" team, which is why they always play the Colts so tough. Forget their 8-8 record, it is all about how they match up. Chargers have a great running game (Tomlinson, Sproles, and Michael Turner in the prior years), and the Colts can't stop the run. Advantage - Chargers.

Hats off to the Colts for a great season though. They just ran into the one team that gave them match up problems.

I just want to congradulate the COLTS on turning it around this season. I love you guys and I still support you. What is it with all the negativity?
Yes I was upset that we lost but these guys put their bodies on the line for us every week and I don't know how they take some of the hits they have to take. I sure hope Dungy doesn't leave us because I think he is not only a class act but a great coach. If you are a true fan then you will take the bad with the good. GO COLTS see you next season.

wake up its not the D in the playoffs its the O, time and time again. 17 points the D allowed and the O can't beat that with all the big name players. Time to make a coaching change and get a fresh take.

what about manning you forget about him san diego last in defending the passs but he could'nt get 4 yards passing to finish the game look at the whole team an prase to the defence they gave manning an the offence a chance.Oh I foregot he does no wrong its the rest of the team.

The D lost the game? Did you even watch the game. We spend all of our money on the O, the D holds the Chargers to 17 points and gets two turnovers. It doesn't take a genius to figure that the O lost the game not the D. Yes they had a great regular season but I would rather have a great post season any day. 12-4 and lose the 1st game in the post season or 0-16 whats the big difference?

Unfortunately, the Stripped Shirts ran that last play 22 yards into the end zone for the Chargers.
This is 1 of those instances where the Officials
Decide to Decide the outcome..likely to cover their own 'betting.'

i think manning does toooooo much moving around at the line of scrimmage and it creates confusion... too many penalties also are a big problem... come on colts lets tackle!!!!!

The officials didn't decide to grab and twist that facemask. Stupidity did.
