Think about it, Tannenbaum got Mangini several players and 7 pro bowlers this yr but Mangini still couldn't win with them. Meanwhile Miami with less talent wins 11 games and New England without Brady wins 11 games. You need to call Cowher Monday and tell him you want him to be your next coach. Dont expect Cowher to cal and ask for the job unless Mangini gets fired first.

Bob-
You are 100% correct in your assessment. I am a long time season tix holder-- and did not like the Favre trade from the get go. To rent an aging qb for a year, and lose a year of development with Clemens was a huge gamble.Look forward to my 50 year SB 3 anniversary poster in 10 years

I agree with most of what you've said here, Bob, except for the bit about Pennington's departure. I'm convinced that, had Pennington remained, we would have seen the usual from him. Chad has become a different player, motivated by vengeance and a change of scenery. I'm not saying trading for Favre was the right move. Had Pennington remained with us, he would have remained the same QB we saw in '03-'07. The move to Miami rejuvenated him and I wish him the best of luck.

Managini is not the guy to lead this team. Football more than any other sport can live and die on emotion. The guy, while a hard worker, is robotic. He also makes very poor in game decisions, and has shown ZERO ability to make adjustments.
Tannenbaum has done a very good job of bringing in the talent. Between Mangold, Revis, Washington and Ferguson, those are 4 of Tannenbaum's draft picks that are pro bowlers or alternates. That's more than Terry Bradway drafted his entire time here.
They need a new coaching staff. They were outcoached in too many games. Sutton has shown he cannot do it, and Shottenheimer does not seem to be the guy either. You have to wonder what happened to special tems on occasion as well, but Westhoff has a good track record and may deserve another shot.

While Pennington may have been motivated against the Jets, I think that Miami was better able to use his talents, and surrounded him with the types of players he needed (running backs and the tight end for example). He could not have done the same job had he stayed.

He was always highly motivated to succeed and a terrific leader. That's why NY still loves him.

The curse didn't start with super bowl III. It started when the Jets left Shea Stadium in '83. They have had super rotten luck ever since then.

I most likely will be in the minority to say bring back Mangini with a 1 year contract extension...

He's had 2 winning seasons. I don't believe a coach can be dismissed based on a 1-4 stretch, as bad as that may sound. I do believe there needs to be some coaching changes. Whether it's Romeo Crennel, if he fired by the Browns, or a talented up and coming offensive guru, both sides of the ball seemed to be outcoached in the last 5 games...

QB will be very difficult to fill. I don't envy the Jets replacing Favre under any circumstances...

Why not just burn the entire thing down, get a new name, officially move to NJ and start all over as The Prodigals. It's not the end of the world...Dammit!
