Terry.... Love ya brother.... but I think you're dead wrong. It's like Kiper said in an article recently.... Quinn was surrounded with questionable talent. The best pick for the Browns I think are, by round 1) Quinn 2)An O-Lineman like Grubbs or Staley 3)Another O-Lineman like Free or a DB 4) Michael Bush or Chris Henry 5) One of the many DB's

I agree with your analysis, except I would like Peterson ahead of Thomas. Now can somebody, please, convince Savage.

I really don't think Smith sucks at all, but the amount of scramble-heavy (I know his passing improved this past season, but it still doesn't compare to other later round QB's like who I would love to see in third round, Trent Edwards from Stanford) college QB's who turned into quality pro QB's is very, very tiny. I really hope Smith has a great career, I am just not sure. I do, however, think Ginn is going to be a bust. I got no proof, or Mel Kiper like time in the film room - just a hunch.

I think, as an avid fan of local talk radio (ignore the NY city, that's work server thing - the ABJ is really hacking into my system I guess) and I have heard how people want to take Ginn with pick one, then Gonzo with pick two, and Smith, blah, blah blah. I love Ohio State - but I doesn't want OSU north up here. I want a winning PRO football team.

The Browns best player ever was from Syracuse (Jim Brown) and one of the most beloved (Kosar) was from The U of Miami. I don't care where they are from, I just want some guys who don't get hurt before the season starts and would like maybe a pro bowl sniff every now and then - and... I know this is wishful - a playoff berth. I know that's crazy talk - but a man's gotta dream.

The last thing this team needs is a $100 million offensive line and no skill players other than K2. The Browns MUST draft 1.) Brady Quinn, 2.) Adran Peterson, or 3.) Calvin Johnson. Do not I repeat, do not take Thomas unless you have traded down utside of the top 10.

man, i think u are so right-- i want peterson so bad i can taste it!-- so how come i'm feeling guilty for not wanting Quinn or Russell?-- everybody is telling me u can't pass on a franchise qb and that "fear" is only holding us back-- well... yeah... Couch, Frye Anderson, Wynn, Garcia-- damn straight i'm scared!-- i wanna bust it up the gut against pitt and balt. and i want them to feel it! Take Peterson-- Regards, tomc

I agree with you 100% i mean think bout it quinn was a good QB bt savage and crennel dont have time to go through a rokkie QB it takes to much time and he cant d much good if he is on his back we need O-Line Thonmas would be and awsome pick and to trade down and still get him wuold make me very happy and peterson is a good RB but he runs a lil high and wa good wit out an o-line he will get hurt. if we got Thomas we pretty much have a really good O-line would love to see it

GO BROWNS!!!!

This is the best draft analysis I've heard in a long time. I couldn't agree with you more. Thomas is solid and Peterson has many rare talents. There are Brady Quinn's and Jamrcus Russell's in every draft.

So far I feel the BROWNS should draft Johnson if available, or Peterson , then if Russel falls to them take him hes a stud and hes smart enough to read defenses well and hes a prime time player witness the win over Notre Dame and Brady Quinn. The Browns then can take offensive linemen in the 2nd and 3rd rounds if they are talented linemen remaining. Of course if we could get a few more draft picks say another 2nd round pick and at least a 3rd or even a better deal than what I just mentioned trade down as you suggest

TRADE DOWN AND GET MORE PICKS!!! Teams actually want Quinn, Johnson, and A.D. We need more than an overpaid #3 pick. Move back to around #10, grab another 2nd rounder, draft best available need in the 1st, and pay less. Depending on the # of the pick get either DL (Okoye) or CB (Hall) in the first. Take OL (Staley) in the 2nd, and DL/CB (if not in the first), go for a guard (Blaylock or Grubbs) in the 3rd and cross your fingers so Chris Henry will fall to us in the 4th. Day two is all OL and DL. We absolutely NEED a CB early, we have very little CB depth.

"212 Browns Fan" = Brady Quinn still doing his self promotions. If you're going to try and w_hore yourself Quinn, you'd be better off trying the Plain Dealer.

It amazes me the the anti-Quinn sentiment on this blog. I have a feeling I know why. Take the average Cleveland sports fan; unsophisticated, busch light guzzling, nascar loving, lacking any sense of irony, redneck dolts. Then present to them this pretty boy, articulate all american stud from evil notre dame. The average rubber dog face wearing dunderhead is threatened by this, afraid of awakening his latent homosexuality. It's much easier to simply root for a manicotti armed, buzz cutted ugly hick named charlie frye.
That being said, I would take rusell, petersen, or calvin over him. But listen to the case for Quinn. He's mobile, 6'4", learned a pro-style offense based on the patriots, under the tutelage of the guy who trained tom brady. Is there another guy out there more ready to step right into a starting NFL QB position than him?

Brady Quinn is a self-involved punk who the Browns don't NEED right now. They do not absolutely NEED a QB. They NEED more picks!
Anyone but Quinn.

NOT Trent Green. To your point, and I totally agree, if we don't get an offensive line all our quarterbacks will end up with head trauma. It would be OK with me if we did nothing else but concentrate on the O-Line. We have not had one since we've been back and if we don't establish one we will never win.

Please do not blow the chance to pick Joe Thomas. Next in the second rd. take Tony Hunt, you will not be disappointed I promise. Then if you have the opportunity grab Anthony Gonzalez he is just starting to peak. He would be great under the coverage. Then find a DE or a tweener to convert to a DE to complement Wimbley on the opposite corner. Please do not over think your existing talent base. Do the team a favor and get the best strength and conditioning coach you can find. Your biggest opponent the last couple of years has been injuries and lack of leadership and lastly lack of maturity of your younger players. One last thing to strongly consider base on there summer camp performance and conditioning is the amount of contribution your 6+year veterans are making to the developing of this team.
This is still business, and you do have and obligation to the fan base to in all earnest put the best product on the field irregardless of personal feels or respect for your the veterans. Eye of the tiger, either they have it or leave, period. P.S. I think your Qaurterback talent you presently have, has been getting a bad rap.PUT SOME HEALTHY PEOPLE IN FRONT OF THEM AND IT WILL BE A DIFFERENT STORY. Also keep an eye on Sidney Rice, he is capable of stretching the secondary.

Johnson is everything we didn't get in Edwards, who can be dealt. Draft the Georgia Tech receiver if you can.

I see it like this: 1)Johnson 2)Thomas 3-5) Trade down because I don't want either quarterback or Peterson, as I am reticent about him due to his injury history
