thats all we brown fans need is another reason for guys like bill livingston and you to get on espn, and bad mouth the browns. me being a truck driver i have to listen to espn foam at the mouth about how bad we are, and how we screw up in drafts. so this quinn thing will fall right in their hands!!!

Thank you for a thoughtful article. Brady Quinn (or his agent) seems to have the attitude that he's really not a 22nd pick, he's worth more. Why isn't his (their) attitude that he would have fallen to a later pick, that the Browns went and got him at 22, and he's lucky to get 22nd instead of later pick money?

it seems that how savage wanted it. not to have quinn in ahead of the other two rookies. thomas and wright aren't the most important players quinn is

Phil Savage made it pretty clear when he said "the two most important rookies have already signed", so what's the big rush for Quinn. Could it be that Savage figured that something like this would probably happen and that perhaps he has set Quinn up to be trade bait. For the first time in 8 years the Browns finally have a legitimate supporting cast for the QB, and the two that are on the roster now and in camp now will greatly benefit from this, plus they aren't that much older than Quinn, so why rush to sign him. If Quinn truly wants to play for the Browns then he needs to come down off his high horse and realize that he did fall to #22 and would've probably fallen further had it not been for the Browns.

Brady sack it up and sign a contract worthy of a 22 pick. YOU WILL BE THE HIGHEST PAID QB ON THE ROSTER AND GUESS WHAT...YOU HAVEN'T TAKEN A SNAP IN THE NFL.

Charlie may have looked like a chicken with his head cut off, but he also had to endure an OC who tried to make him a pocket passer when he's clearly better on the move. I think I saw what maybe 3 bootleg pass plays all year. With Frye are you kidding me!

The title is a bit passive-aggressive isn't it Terry? It also seems a little unprofessional. Its clear you never wanted Quinn on the team because you are a Frye guy. We get it. But you've reduced yourself to childish attacks on his character. Lots of guys sign autographs and get paid for it. What do you think the going rate was for Reggie Bush autographed stuff before he ever stepped on the field last year? People chose to stand in that line and pay those costs, so they felt it was worth it. So I really don't see what thhat has to do with him holding out other than you trying to paint him as greedy.
As for his holdout, we all know how agents work. His agent is trying to get the most money for Quinn and for himself. Its a dirty business but its just that, business. I'm sure they are trying to make up the point that the Browns gave up what may be a high 1st rounder last year plus a second rounder so he deserves more than the 22nd pick. I don't agree with it but the way they are looking at it, he lost millions so of course he is going to look to get it back. The Browns must have known this might be a difficult negotiation when they got back in so they will have to deal with it. The worst thin that could happen would be for the Browns to be unable to sign him and he renters the draft. Then we lost those two picks for nothing. A trade is unlikely because the Browns have no leverage here. The NFL needs a rookie salary scale like the NBA does. Then this stuff wouldn't happen
Quinn needs to be in camp but I'd be happy if he didn't start this year at all. He needs to be brougth along slowly. So I'm less concerned about that aspect of his holdout. He'd be better served to learn and hold a clip board all year.
In any case, try to not let your emotion and personal grudges influence your writing. You are better than that.

The Browns trading up to get the 22 spot was great. The problem is, they should have used that pick to grab a pass rusher, another corner or offensive lineman. Why on earth is everyone conceding the starting QB slot to Quinn? This pretty boy is just interested in the money and getting to the west coast as fast as possible. What did Charlie Fry do to be cast out in favor of a guy who probably will be a huge flop. The character is not there in Quinn.

It doesn't matter Brady isn't in camp on time. Next year will be his real opertunity to challenge for the starting job.

Besides, Savage new when he drafted Quinn he just traded next years 1st round draft choice for 2008's starting QB.

Terry, I have to agree with Browns Fan In DC - I'm an avid reader of your columns, and tell my Akron relatives they are lucky to have you writing for their paper - but I'm puzzled at the barely disguised contempt you have for Quinn who, by all unbiased accounts, is a good guy and quite probably at least an average NFL QB-to-be. Which means he will be a massive upgrade over Chuck.

As Browns Fan In DC said, you really are better than this.

Go Browns!

Oh, and by the way, I'm not questioning the basic premise, which is that it was most important to sign the OL and the CB first - it's more a question of your tone when discussing Quinn, which seems uncharacteristic of your writing.
