Patriots Won, But Lost Some Of Their Aura Of Invincibility

Full story: Hartford Courant

The private conversation lasted about 10 minutes, and other than some animated facial expressions by Brady there didn't seem to be anything unusual about the exchange.

I agree Manning didn't choke last year. The man earned his one ring no question. However, he does have a long and sordid history of self destructing in the playoffs. Maybe he has shaken that demon, maybe he hasn't. We will see over the next few months.
However, to be so confident that the Colts will beat the Patritos given the consistently close games they have played agains mediocre teams, I wouldn't be so quick to trumpet their greatness.
The patriots have had exactly two close games and only one of those two was against a mediocre team. This is a great team, that matches up well against every team in the league.
This is the patritos superbowl to lose, not the Colts to win at this point...
I say this due to the tougher schedule and the number of players lost and ones sidelined by injuries during their 10-2 record.
Under the same conditions I doubt the Patriots could have done as well. But, that is just my opinion.
But, in a few weeks we'll see who is the better team.

Hey, as a Huge fan of the Clots I just want to add that we should not be too overzealous in our expectations this year...especially against the best team in football. The Patriots are clearly way too talented to be taken lightly and believing that we have any more than a slight outside remote possibility of eeking out a win would be foolhardy. We need to just relax and tone down the rhetoric a bit and have faith that our boys will hang in that and hope for the best.
Go Clots!!!
I hope saying Clots instead of Colts were typos.

THIS IS TO MAXX FROM INDIANA. i was talking about mannings overall stats last year in the playoffs-4 td's 7 int's. typical for you to hand all the credit to manning when they win and all the credit to the other 52 players when they lose. your defense won the superbowl last year, not manning, look at the stats. they arent made up. 3 picks in the first game, two in the second of the playoffs last year. if it werent for your defense kc would have beaten you in the first round. choke is what manning does and the only people who chose to forget the facts during the playoffs are guys like you who cant face the truth. believe me im one of millions of people who see manning individually crack during the playoffs every year since he has been in the league. im not just hating, im stating undisputable fact. you cant argue with the stats.
as for brady's record without moss and welker well you can just look at what he did the last five years of his career without even good defenses. in 01-nobody big in the receiving core and statistically the worst defense ever to win a superbowl. they beat the best offense in football with that horrendous defense and no running game. brady has done it for 5 years with nobodies to throw to and now he has real weapons. manning has had his 5 first round draft picks on offense forever and still only has one ring.
also the pats are not going to lose the last three out of 5 games to give the colts homefield so manning will have to wait another year since he has statistically played his worst games ever in foxboro in the cold. no reason to think it will be any different this year because he had harrison all those other times he choked too. thats for all you people who think harrison is going to come back after sitting half a season and be the difference. also the pats are way better than they were last year coupled with being undefeated at home in the playoffs under brady, you dont have a shot.
another thing, you seem to think the patriots got a game out of the eagles because of the cold? what kind of idiot thinking is that? no turnovers on offense and they won. they also forced three on defense. its a typical indy fan to say something like that. blame stupid scenarios for why a good team had an off day. since you colts fans sit through every home game in air conditioning ill explain it to you since i am from new england. its freezing in october and november up there so under your theory, they should have lost their last three games at home because of the cold? get real, they had an off day and still won, they also had an off day in indy and won in your building by coming back from a 10 point deficit with less than a quarter of the game. then manning did what he always does in big games, he coughed the ball up when it mattered most. dont think your luck will fair any better outside in our house.

Yeah I can see that. I will say though, that the Patriots have a much better track record at plugging in their back ups when their starters are hurt.

part of that is due to the history of the patritos at utilizing mediocre talent to the utmost of their ability. This is the season they have had marquee talent anywhere other then the QB position so inhuries would probably hurt them more so than previous years.

again with stating untrue facts. when the schedules came out in the spring the widespread agreement was that the patriots had the toughest schedule by far. they had 8 of last years 12 playoff teams on their schedule equalling 9 games. the cowboys and colts on the road, pittsburgh, the giants, san diego, the entire nfc east-which is the best division in the nfc. they have since won every game, including beating two undefeated teams in their house. the colts entire schedule consists of the patriots and a bunch of .500 teams. not saying the pats played a ton of good teams but they clearly played more, much better opponents than the colts have and won. blah blah blah about your tough division. two years ago it was the afc east that was the toughest for a few years and the pats still won superbowls having to play their division 6 times. its not the pats fault that the opponents put on their schedule in the spring arent living up to their end of the bargain. typical colts fan again looking for every excuse not related to actually playing the game to justify other teams winning easier than they. newsflash-every week is a tough game even for the pats against the worst teams. its the nfl, just because the pats make it look easy doesnt mean its not hard and just because the colts struggle to pull off wins doesnt mean their schedule is any harder than anyone elses. stop looking for special treatment. your team suits up like everyone else.

also in case you didnt notice or failed to acknowledge(probably more accurate) the pats have had injuries to key players all year. our probowl d-lineman seymour sat out the first half of the season and the pats are still undefeated. at one point we were down to our fourth string running back. we have had injuries to the secondary and the offensive line and still get it done. dont act like the colts are accomplishing anything more than any other team because they have a 10-2 record with some injuries. its part of the game, not an excuse. if you want to hear excuses listen to the teams like jacksonville who lost that game to your colts yesterday because of the refs bias calls in the colts favor. i know you will never acknowledge those kinds of things helping your team along but believe me, everyone outside of indy who isnt clouded by the aura of dungy and manning know it. its the colts whining that got the league to change the rules to make it impossible for a guy to play defense so manning could throw long bombs all day and pad his stats. too bad his stats never get padded in the playoffs except on the interception end.

I never took it as personal. But, when you start out by saying "who are the Colts??????". I just wanted to remind you that the Colts are still a force to be reckoned with once the playoffs begin. The Patriots already saw that when they barely beat them during the regular season.
Something they will not repeat once the Colts O line gets healthy.
there you go again blaming injuries. how can you say the colts are a force to be reckoned with but once their o-line is healthy they will be a force to be reckoned with? which one is it? all i know is a win is a win and your defense gave up a 10 point lead with half the 4th quarter and when your savior manning tried to mount a last minute comeback, well he lived up to history...he choked by coughing the ball up at the most critical part of the game.
bottom line is the pats started this year playing 60 minute playoff football. every other team plays about 3/4 of that and then tries to step it up once they get to the playoffs. that means the other 11 teams this year will be 4 months behind in preparation once they enter the real season. why is it you actually think the pats are not going to get any better in the next month but the colts are just going to step up a few levels once they get guys back they havent played with in months? its ignorant thinking. you think the scores are being run up now? wait until you see the pats show up for a playoff game.
