Things like this happen in life unfortunately......people snap and do things that are way out of character. It's happened many times before and it will happen many times again. The fact that he was in the public eye makes it more visible to us...... There is no answer to this, let it be. Be remoreful to the surrounding family and move on.

He wasnt the only person to kill someone that day.
He killed her with a different gun than he used to commit suicide. Both were legally owned and registered to him.

Lol...and how do you suggest we determine that?

But...on the same token, who would say, "The guy opened fire and killed my daughter with a registered weapon - sad day, but at least he didn't have his 2nd Ammendment rights infringed upon."

And yet still more people die in car crashes. Seems the guy had anger issues going years back. IMO If he hadn't killed her with a gun he would have used something else, fists, knife, electrical cord, maybe even a car, whatever. The intent was there, so was the lack of self control. The gun is an aside.
I am simply amazed at how many people think all gun owners are like the wild west denizens, the ones I know are the complete opposite, they would never settle a fight with a gun.

That's an age-old arguement as well as an often misleading analogy.

There are many more licensed drivers in the United States than registered gun owners. This is also ignoring the fact that deaths by firearms continue to rise whereas motor vehicle deaths have been on a steady decline since the 1960's.

A better analogy would maybe be per capita deaths from each demographical group - but I doubt it.

I would use the analogy, "More people die from heart desease every year in the US than firearms deaths."

Maybe McDonald's can put a spin on that one and imprint it on the sides of their Happy Meal boxes.

It's coming soon, I'm sure of it. The kicker is will there be tax, like cigarettes? There is a commercial run regularly about quitting smoking, it is sponsored by "smoke free California" the ad is paid by tobacco taxes and those taxes help pay for health insurance for kids of low income working parents. If they succeed at making the state tobacco free who will pay for the insurance?

Happy Birthday by the way!

Better question, if they succeed why have insurance?

(no smokers = healthier people)

Thanks - I had to come into work today just to sober up, lol.

OK, so KCPD find him passed out behind the wheel of his Bentley at 3am at Apt.Com plex 10 miles from home.
He gets out, claims he is there to visit his girlfriend, but she's not home. They allow him to call her, suddenly she's there and let's him in.
- Did they or didn't they give him a sobriety test (witnesses have him drinking earlier that night)
- Why didnt police verify who this alleged "girlfriend" was?

Was this some other Ho he was seeing?
Or was this his actual g/f, mom of his kid.

They had separated a few months back, and she came back to his home around Thanksgiving. So was this her apt she used while separated? Then she used it to sleep at after that concert? Witnesses have him leaving at 6:30 am.

Maybe if he was detained or arrested on suspicion of DWI and held overnight until the team bailed him out, Both of them just might still be alive today. Did he have one of those handguns in the car, why didnt police do a check?
If the woman was not his actual girlfriend, who is she? How long had he been cheating?

He had a history of incidents at Univ of Maine involving his jealousy and issues with women.

Actually, if the cops would have simply shot first and asked questions later, she may still be alive today.

Somebody said something about snapping. I agree, the murder of his girlfriend may have been because he snapped, but driving around Kansas City then going to the stadium, talking to people, crying, talking some more...that was an attempt to wring as much attention to the situation as possible. Because he knew what he did was so horrible and he would end up in prison for a long time, he took the easy way out and shot himself. THAT wasn't snapping. That was being a coward unable to face up to what he had done. Shameful.

He didnt drive around KC after the shooting, he drove directly to the stadium, and arrived there within 15 minutes of killing her.
Also, committing suicide is NOT an easy way out, it takes alot of nerve. I know you couldnt do it right now.
