Club hires Rosburg to run special teams

Full story: Baltimore Sun

Having an extra set of eyes watching his players doesn't seem to bother Jerry Rosburg.

Ogden should quit holding up the teams plans , as he did last year, causing my respect for him to fade. Retire now, so team can move forward.

Congrats to Mr.Biscotti on the new coach, congrats to acoach Harbaugh on hia Home Run" hiring, what anticipating for the upcoming season, a breath of fresh air, All fans are pumped.

How come Cameron just talked about Boller and McNair? Why not Troy Smith?

I know the Ravens think they can win still, but despite Troy Smith's inexperience, he's still the best option on the Ravens if McNair plays as he did last year. He did well as a rookie, throwing 2 TDs in 70 some throws with no INTs. I bet he could put up these stats next year:

3,200 passing yards, 61% completion, 400 rushing yards, 18 TDs, 9 INTs.

Ummmm....why are they keeping Mark Carrier? Did anyone see ANYTHING positive in the secondary this season? Anything? Please don't say "injuries" either....Rolle getting hurt was a GOOD thing...and McAlister kills us giving up the big play every game and then drawing three to four penalties with his big mouth. The Giants had more than few injuries and so did the Patriots in the secondary...they coached up and overcame the problems.

How come Cameron only is considering Boller and McNair? What about Troy Smith? If McNair plays as he did last year, Smith is the best option on the Ravens squad. I bet he would have similar stats to what McNabb had his first year as a starter.

My prediction if the Ravens allowed Troy Smith to start from the first game:

3,200 yrds passing, 61% completion, 400 yrds rushing, 19 TDs and 9 INTs.

The Ravens could go far with these numbers, even if Smith didn't make these numbers.

Carmeron better not bank on McNair or Boller. They are terrible. Give Troy Smith a shot. He didn't throw a interception in 3 games.

Jacob I totally agree with you, where is Troy Smith and why wasn't he approached? Man I hope he gets a fair shot cause it would be a waste of of talent we decide to neglect.

Be patient, we'll find out soon enough how good a quarterback Troy Smith really is when the Ravens get to training camp. I also think Carrier is a better DB coach than Thurman. He was tough as a player and I think he will bring that toughness to the DB players now that he has full control.

I agree we shouldn't have kept Carrier but to say McCallister kills us makes me wonder if you paid attention last year. Our best games were when McCaliister was playing and when he wasn't is when things fell apart. I haven't been the biggest McCallister fan throughout his career but I think last year he proved just how important he is to this team. Yes, he gets a big penalty once in a while but thats better then giving up a touchdown and you can't tell me other top corner backs don't get called for big penalties. That's the nature of the position.

It's more surprising to me that Harbaugh is keeping Wade Harman and Vic Fangio around. Harman was one of Billick's original assistants, coming with him from Minnesota, but I guess he wanted to stay and Ozzie probably went to bat for him. As for Fangio, I was never quite sure what he did as a "special assistant" to Billick. If you now have Rex Ryan as assistant head coach, why do you also need a special assistant to the head coach?

Ray I ask that question too but look at it this way if something goes wrong the coach will put blame elsewhere as long as it's not the head coaches fault.

I'm 100% behind questioning the decision to keep Fangio. All one has to do is look down 95 a bit to see what happens when there are too many "assistant head coaches". We've already got Ryan with that moniker, WTF is Fangio doing here?

It was thought that Fangio might take over for Ryan had Ryan gotten the HC job with the Chargers (dreaded might be more accurate), like Fassel went from "consultant" to OC. But now that the team's coaching staff is re-tooling, why in the world was Fangio re-hired? Nobody really knew what he did before, so there's no track record. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what -- if anything -- he does now.

And was our secondary so great that it justified bringing back Carrier?

Ok... I can see where folks can speculate on what players should be kept based on their stats or whether or not you just like or don't like the guy, but give me a friggin break-- no one on this forum, unless they are on the Ravens coaching staff or in the NFL can say why Fangio, Carrier, Harmon or anybody else should be retained/hired/fired. You have no clue as to their merits, what they actually do or their value to the team. Stick to analyzing what we as fans can actually weigh in on. All we know about an assistant coach like a Fangio is his bio and picture in the media guide. I can understand back and forth on Rex and Cameron, but to try to speak with knowledge about other coaches down the org chart is ridiculous.

Have you ever done an 18-hour day with any of these guys? Broken down film? Run player meetings? Installed formations? This exchange was laughable.

What's next? A debate on whether they kept the film guy? I hope Bill Tessendorf's contract isn't up for renewal. This jury might send him packing.

And yes, I had never posted to this blog before until now. Had to speak out on how silly this assesment of the 2nd level hirings is. Yikes!!!

Cam needs to build a plan around Troy Smith. First step, go meet with him.
