Phil my man we are free!!!!!!! our curse has been lifted.... this will be a great new years celebration we will now be able to compete in an uninhibited way next year.... no longer will we have to rely on defense and undeveloped talent alone to win games...thank you again Steve Busciotti you showed your heart with this decision.

let's get real now. for the next couple of years, say it like it is - rebuilding. then hope for an 8 & 8 season. then more later and a title in 3-5 years. that can happen if we don't get too carried away too soon.

As a Steeler fan and the head of the Billick-Boller fan club, I say keep there here as long as possible. 13-3 was a fluke year where the Steelers, Browns and Bengals were soft as well as a weak schedule overall. As long as Billick runs the show, they will never go far. As a MD resident, someone who works in Baltimore and bleeds football, flush this loser back to the West Coast and promote Ryan. His no nonsense attitude will be refreshing.
Alright so I guess sweeping the steelers and allowing only 7 points against them was a fluke hahahhaha, you're an idiot. Our defense absolutley killed your team last season. The ravens had the best defense last season and mcnair did fine with the offense.

Good luck in the playoffs hahaha you're gonna need it, because jacksonville will own!

I'll give you this.
The Ravens have the talent. The Patriot game proved that. No one played them closer or tougher this year.
The Ravens lost five games this year by less than a touchdown. You could argue that that is down to bad coaching or you could argue that the Cleveland loss was unreal, the Miami loss was due to a bad snap, the Patriot loss was due to Bart Scott losing his mind and a bad call, that the first Cincy loss was due to a bad call and the rest I forget. I choose to be a bit more forgiving than you are.
With better coaching and/or better luck, the Ravens are what? 10-6 and maybe in playoff contention. You could argue that with all the injuries and as badly as the team has played that they were not that far away this year. I could see why some of the players feel they are snake bit.
My point is the coaching couldn't be that bad if the games were that close. Its not a case of just the players talent or just the coaching. Its a combination of the two. It just needs to be better. If you are going to blame Billick for bad offense then you also have to give him credit for the good defense and the overall grittiness of this team. You can't separate those things.
As I said before, I watched the Bengals for a few years and those teams were clueless. I have to laugh at the people who say Marvin won the Super Bowl not Billick. They did it together.
The Ravens,as awful as they can be to watch this year, have not approached the level of hopelessness that the Bengals have approached even this year. And I should mention Bengals fans are great people and deserve much better than that collection of knuckleheads.
I'm sure you have your facts right, but they all sound like excuses...every team "could have won this one IF..." that will get you a coffee, and no playoffs every time..

<quoted text> Happy New Year Ravens fans.I guess the owner is commited to winning after all!A new era is arriving the status quo is no more!I guess we do have a voice.I had feeling after that survey Biscotti took maybe it was over for Brian.I won't speculate who they should hire.I will leave it up to the "powers that be".People are rejoicing all over B-more.I can hear it!
People are definitely rejoicing all over. Except on a couple Ravens boards where every Billick apologist who's been yammering on and on about how Billick will NEVER be fired because HE HAS A CONTRACT, and he'll only leave WHEN HE DECIDES TO LEAVE are having cows left and right. "OH MY...WHAT DO WE DO NOW?" "WHERE WILL WE EVER FIND ANOTHER COACH?" "I DIDN"T LIKE THE WAY BISCIOTTI FIRED HIM".

It's pathetic. But they deserve their self-imposed misery.

For me...It's WOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Ding dong, the witch is dead!

To John from Catonsville:

I'm with Gomer on this one. Your points strike me as excuses. And to say one team isn't really bad because it's worse than another team is just mindless, IMO.

So we'll just agree to disagree. We've gotten what we wanted -- Billick is fired. And I expect to see some significant improvements with the talent we have. If the hiring of the new coach and his assistants is done well, we could hit 2008 running. Let's get a HC and OC pair who know how to develop a QB, and who can get an O-line to know how to block for running and pass protection. I don't think that's too much to ask. LOL.

I think Troy Smith and Kyle Boller, McGahee, and our WRs & TEs will give us enough of an offensive base to work from.

I think the D will be ok with some additional help in the draft with a CB and DE. And let's get this show on the road!

i'm calling out the beat writer for this newspaper! Just over the last several weeks you have found every way to find fault in Troy Smith play! You are probally like other beat writer and sport talk host he don't think much of him being a pro quaterback!!! Heads up! Let me inform you on troy since you have no clue about Troy! He's very smart and he can read defensive schem! He has qreat movement and can throw on the run! by the way you keep saying there were four balls that should have been pick off! Almost only counts in horse shoe! If the balls did not get pick off then quit making it seems like they were ! his stat for yesterday shows no pickoff! Tom Brady should have had some pickoff that would have cost them a game during the season! but he didn't! and for troy not to have play on a regular bases since Jan 07 he has done pretty good!! You & your media friends love to build up the knowbody QB's like that Brady Quinn! You think Troy could be still playing if he threw 19 intrcp for the season like Eli? I'll answer for you NO! I just hope the next coach they bring in that they will let troy compete for the job! His arm strenght is amazing! And he throws very thight spiral! Not some wobbly ball!!! So Mr. Preston since you seem like a troy smith hater why don't you taker you and your penmanship down the turnpike and root for your hero like a Brady Quinn, Eli, or even Rex! I guess he''s better then Troy huh! If it sounds like i'm hard on you then wake up and write the fact correctly! ps! I wonder if you ever lace up a per of cleat and play on any sports level! I hope other people think highly of Troy as i do! I gave Troy a B for yesterday game!

I'll have you know Mike Preston played football for our own Towson State University.

Doesn't that impress you? What? You've never HEARD of Towson State University?

LOL. Neither have most people. He was a 2nd rate player, and an even worse writer.

Thanks for throwin some support Troy's way. He DOES throw a nice, tight spiral. He's been the ONLY Ravens QB in nearly a decade who can play -- and WIN -- in the rain. He can make plays with his arm, his legs, and his brain. I only wish our local writers could use 1/3 -- their brain -- but unfortunately, they're all we got.

(And believe it or not...Preston is actually BETTER than Schmuck and Markus. Where do they find these guys, anyway?)
