A tough stance

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you here, Mike. If this guy is getting injuries IN TRAINING CAMP.... then he is running MUCH too harsh of a camp, and frankly..... I don't have ANY faith in his methods, if he keeps on hurting players.
The best way to run a training camp is SAFE AND SLOW, though tough to a reasonable degree. If you are getting ANY injuries..... you are either being too tough with your players or your players aren't tough enough for your playing style. Seeing how some of these football players are built..... I'm betting it's the latter.

Excuse me, correction to the post: at the end, it is supposed to say the FORMER, not the latter.

Soft and slow is what caused this team to self-destruct 4 out of the past 5 seasons when the going got tough. Maybe full-contact 2-a-days is a bit excessive, but Harbaugh is right to adopt this philosophy to weed out the players who aren't buying into his progrm. I think he will back off once he realis]zes who he can trust and who he can't

Its a team with lots of holes. Way too many to be competitive at this point. I like how Harbaugh is establishing expectations. A tough minded approach, hopefully with discipline. A team. not simply a collection of pro-bowlers, has beens and not quite what they think they are types(see t-fizzle) A team tough in all 3 areas. and I truly believe alot of these so called injuries are in serious question.

Pretty funny bloated Mike won't go after the real problem here, Steve Bigshotti.
Harbough can have all the tough talk he wants but when Ray and the God Squad go crying to their star f'ing owner Harbough will be undermined and marginalized. Big Mike knows this but he doesn't want to lose access to the team. Amazing something with no spine can weigh that much and walk.

Two things in this typical Preston piece. First, that Gaither will never be a regular starter in this league. Mike, I'll bet you dinner at any Ruth Chris or Mortons in town that Gaither will be an anchor on this line or someones line for the next 10 years. Second, that the veterans fake injuries to get out of practice.....pretty tough accusation.....

This is typical Preston because in his time warp of a world Harbaugh got the job of head coach just a couple of weeks ago. "Helloooo! Earth to Preston! Come in Preston! The coach has been around for months! Hellooooooo!"

You can never quite get the story right, can you Mike? It would hurt to actually do a good job of proofreading an article, wouldn't it. Do you want mommy to rub your tummy for you? Oh, I know, wittle Mikey. You meant to write that Harbaugh is just a couple of weeks into his first training camp as coach. But, as usual, your are careless and carefree with your writing, so any credibility you may build with the reader goes out the window within the first paragraph.

Hey, I'm glad Harbaugh is running a tougher camp. The Ravens need it. I just wish Mike and his editors would take a more professional approach to their craft.

Anyone else love how this moron Preston refers to Billick's camp as "Camp Cream Puff"? Let's see Preston's fat ass put on pads and run around in the heat. Also, you gotta take shots at Gaither and Terry, don't you? And no quotes from any players or coaches...I guess they hate you also.

HIT OF THE DAY
At a camp that is supposed to be more physical than in the past, new coach John Harbaugh has seemingly toned things down a little this week to preserve his already thinning roster. As a result, there's not much hitting, but reserve linebacker Nick Greisen got in a pretty good lick on running back Allen Patrick near the goal line to prevent the rookie from Oklahoma from getting into the end zone. Results mild concusion.
Mike, Even Harbaugh has realized that this type of camp is resulting in way too many injuries: Gaithers, Terry, Cousins, Ngata, Greg, Clayton, Ross, Daniels, McClain, etc..the Ravens have had to go out and sign Rb and OT to replace guys who can't even practice. You have pointed out that Billick's camps were soft and Harbaugh's is tuff there maybe a compromise in the middle somwhere. Billick did have one of the best records in Dec and maybe that is because his team wasn't beat up. When you are counting on Gaithers and Terry protecting your QBs, and they can't even practice , Not good.
First pre game is only a wk away and the Qb Red Jersey comes off and you can expect our QBs to get Hit and maybe the healthy one will start vs any true QB competition.
Camp & Pre have 3 main goals:
Install your system & teach the players.
Conditioning.
Determine who starts & makes your roster.
Get out of camp & pre HEALTHY.
Right now so many guys can't practice that Harbaugh is failing to accomplish any of the above!

Gee coach Preston, you've already been able to determine that Gaither and Terry will not be NFL starters? Maybe they should have let you run the draft instead of that bum Newsome.

Apparently you didn't even read the article. I normally don't like Preston but he's right on point here. did your ead where he said none of the injuries were long term and that you have to expect stuff like this at the beginning of football season? What part of that don't you udnerstand. So now you know more than the coach? First you all b!tch because Billick is to soft then you all b!tch because Harbaugh is too tough. Amazing how armchair coaches THINK they know mre than the coaches. Before you open your fat mouth and say something stupid, maybe you should take a wait-and-see attitude before making a ridiculous statement like this,

Nice job Mike.
The last thing I want to see as a fan are football players who are afraid to play hard.

I'd love to know who is faking injuries?? McAlister and McGahee are listed as probable for doing dumb stuff like that. They are two examples of what is wrong in professional sports.

How does a coach motivate a player who makes millions of dollars?? Truth is, if that player can't be motivated by competition, or by a desire to be number 1, then the team should just take their lumps and get rid of him.

Injuries is part of the game, and mikey boy decides to make comparisions between Billick's camp and Harbaugh's Camp. Who was the one that said that this team needs a tough training camp and disipline? Preston!! You see this is what you expected and now you're already thinking that this team needs to go back to "Camp Creampuff", just because a few players are injured? Give me a break, at least the injuries are not even serious the last time I heard. Maybe you should put pads on since you know everything.

Nothing John Harbaugh is doing is as tough as actual game conditions. If these players can't make it through a tough camp then they won't have much success when the live bullets are flying.

I think Harbaugh already has a good feel for who's a keeper, and who isn't. Look for some serious changes in personnel in the next few seasons.
