Maybe Ray never held out of training camp, but to say that money or his contract never factored into how he played on the field is revisionist history at best.

Suggs better watch out. If Barnes can really turn it on this year, Suggs may end up playing somewhere else next year.

JO's absence isn't REALLY an absence in coach Harbaugh's mind? Wow. That didn't take long.

If a player is under contract and he misses a MANDATORY session without a valid medical or family issue excuse, it is called being ABSENT! There is NO other reasoning. John needs to treat O like all of the other contracted players on the team, favoritism is what causes dissension!
By the way, where was Suggs?

Ray is saying all the right things. I hope they can reach a reasonable agreement and if not franchise him next year . I agree that Suggs should be franchised as a DE and paid accordingly . Also if JO is missing time then he should be fined like the Giants (yuk) did with Strahan .

Suggs is not under contract currently due to his appeal of being Tagged as a Linebacker vs D End

Ray's made plenty of money. Now we will find out if he is a team player or not. I rooting for ya Ray. Be the big guy. Be the ALL PRO BALTIMORE SPORTS PLAYER WE REMEMBER FOREVER. You would be joining a small but very elite group of wonderful human beings. Money spends but status last forever. Don't play the game, Ray. Make your wishes known quick. There are 10's of thousands with there arms opened waiting for you.

He is not under contract to the Ravens? Are you saying that he is a free-agent? I do believe that even though he is appealing his tag, he is still under contract to the Ravens.

This is too funny. Of course Ray is saying all the right things now. The meddling owner/Ray worshiper already said he'd pay more than anyone for his bestest buddy Ray's next contract.

Look at how Ray behaved in '05 when Ozzie wouldn't renegotiate if you want to see the real Ray Lewis.

He's kind of in limbo. The Ravens tendered the franchise tag, but Suggs hasn't signed it yet. I'm not sure he can even suit up and practice now since nothing has yet been finalized.

Ray's not going anywhere. He loves this city and he's focused on what he needs to be focused on. If Billick were still here, then things might be a bit different. He's got a great protege' coming in this year in Tavares and hopefully he'll step up to fill Ray's shoes when he eventually retires.

Go Ravens!

He still is under contract to the Ravens - they only put the franchise tag on him. He has to play for the Ravens or he doesn't play at all, unless they trade him.

A 33 year old Ray Lewis is still better then 99% of linebackers in the NFL.
Best football player in baltimore since Johnny U and you the great Ravens fans have had the opportunity to see this man(Ray Lewis) first hand.

GO RAVENS!

No "I" in team.....until we get off to a bad start and he realizes we aren't going to the playoffs...then I'm sure we'll hear plenty of "I"s speak up on their radio shows or maybe even getting struck w/ the old "phantom hamstring injury" like 2005....I'm hoping this is Ray Ray's last year dancing around in Baltimore, but I'm sure the owner will give him the world just so he has someone to sit next to at the Terps games.

I believe "skaybaltimore" is correct, here. Until Suggs signs the tender he is technically not under contract - although, the Ravens retain all rights. I don't think he is allowed to participate on on-field activities, but can continue to work-out in the strength and conditioning program.

If you'll recall, this is what his role was at the first voluntary mini-camp, where he attended and worked-out with the team, but was not able to practice with them on the field.
