Ngata, Suggs, Reed, those are the building blocks ? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, Ray.
Lets whittle down the positional play percentage to determine that extra 800 K for Suggs.

His best years are the next 6 and he will be with us. We have and will continue to have one of the finest Defenses in the NFL. Any complainers are not fans of the ravens.Draft Sedrick Ellis if available and this defense will be alsum.

I THINK THAT BURGESS WAS PLAYING GOOD AS A ROOKIE LAST YEAR. HE IS NOT ON THE SAME LEVEL AS SUGGS BUT HE COULDBE A QUALITY REPLACEMRNT FOR SUGGS. THAT MONEY COULD BE USED FOR OTHER NEEDS. I LOOK AT EX RAVENS PLAYERS THAT LEFT THE RAVENS FROM THE DEFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL AND THEIR PLAY HAS SUFFER. WHATS HAS ED HARDWELL, DEMPS, STARKS AND EVEN AD DONE SINCE THEY LEFT AND I KNOW I AM MISSING A FEW. NOT SAYING SUGGS IS NOT A HELL OF A PLAYER AND WOULD HELP ANOTHER TEAM. BUT I THINK I WOULD HAD LET HIM WALK OR HAVE ANOTHER TEAM GIVE HIM BETTER OFFER FOR THE 2 FIRST ROUND PICKS. HE HAD ONLY 4 OR 6 SACKS AND 96 TACKLES ON HIS LAST YEAR OF HIS CONTRACT WHICH SHOULD BE YOUR BEST YEAR.

If the Ravens don't keep him you know Phil Savage (Browns) is waiting there with a bunch of cap room to pick him up. He would eat our quarterbacks up for years.

We need to keep Suggs. He got double teamed most of the time last year and still had a lot of QB hurries. His consistent play and durability make him a real asset to our defense.

Suggs will have a monster season this year with the emergence of Antwan Barnes and Edgar Jones as well as the Return of a healthy Trevor pryce...the question is will the Ravens recognize and come to the realization that Chris Mcalister is on the decline with his torn knee ligament injury that ended his season as well as Samari Rolle and his age and health issues.the NFL is full of young fast receivers with track sprinter speed...speed is paramount at cornerback...all the experience in the world will not help you if you cant run stride for stride with these young guys with world class speed...you cant depend on a pass rush to always save you...cornerbacks are out there on an island ...it's the most challenging position on the field...speed is a must...and Mcalister and Rolle will never have that speed again...therefore it is imparitive that the Ravens use their first 2 picks on top notch world class speedy cover corners to match with their #2 ranked run defense....having a rock solid run defense and a soft as hot butter pass defense is a tremendous waste and makes absolutely no sense...draft Jenkins or Mckelvin along with Thomas, Smith or Rodgers Cromartie and the Ravens will once again rule the NFL as a Defense Juggernaut /inpenetrable Dominant force....they wouldnt give up 12 points per game...with Reed and Landry at safety it would be a total lockdown

The Ravens need to sign Suggs so they can open up some cap room for this year.

A healthy Pryce returning would be great but the Ravens need an inside presence that can stop the run Kelly Gregg style but can also put pressure on the QB. Gregg is a nice player but he should be a role player.

The rest of the Raven focus this year should be on offense.

Short term: this is a good move.

How can terrell excpect that much money when his numbers have declined each year. He didn't make the pro bowl, when hes in the game he doens't go 100% each down like the freeny for the colts, and he is younger than freeny, you need to get your facts straight

I am not sure what Suggs is looking for in money. I would agree he is not quite the same stature as Dwight Freeny of the Colts. I would disagree he takes plays off, however.

The entire Raven defense took a dip in sacks, not just Suggs. He still led the team in sacks despite being double teamed more. This pattern can be traced to the loss of Adalius Thomas in the previous offseason and the injury to Trevor Pryce during the season.

Furthermore, Suggs should be given his share of the credit for the rushing yardage against the Ravens being so low. Even Freeny has to take a back seat to Suggs on that one.

Pro bowl selections are nice but not a tell-all indicator on a player's value to his team. Adalius Thomas made the pro bowl in 2003 and 2006. Was he less valuable in his other Raven years or to Patriots last year? On the latter part, Thomas was possibly more valuable this year because he had to play outside his best position for the good of the team. And he did a darn fine job, too.

Haloti Ngata is not getting any where near the credit he deserves... he should be the conerstone of this D. He controls the line period!!!

Ngata needs someone other than Kelly Gregg to help him out.

Don't get me wrong. I like Gregg with his lunch pail attitude and his ability to negate the run. It is just that the Ravens need to be able to pressure the QB from the inside as well as stop the run.
