Clady is not a pretty pick , but he is the right pick if Ryan isn't there,,,,,,,,,,we will need to build a wall around our second round pick,,,,,,,,,,

The thing you left out about Clady is that he played in a Zone Blocking System scheme at Boise state. The Broncos use a similar scheme. It's completely different than what the Ravens use. And while there's nothing to prove that Clady can't adjust to the Ravens system, there's at least some possibility that he won't be as effective in our system as he was in the ZBS scheme. That's a risk that needs to be factored in before considering drafting Clady.

I think it would be a bad idea to pick Clady at #8. If Ryan isn't picked (and IMO we should get Flacco instead), the obvious choice will be DE Ellis. There is no doubt Ellis will be a force to be reckoned with immediately but that's not so with Clady. He's too much of a question mark especially coming from a small school.

The Ravens surely have Ryan, Ellis, McKelvin, Cormartie, Rivers all ranked ahead of Clady and one of them must surely still be on the Bd when the Ravens are picking.

O-Lineman have to be bright to anticipate and coordinate their protection schemes. This guy, scoring a 13 on the Wonderlic is a dope, plain and simple. Try one fo the sample tests. If you are capable of reading this article you are capable of getting at least a 20 on that test. J.O. scored I believe in the high 20's for comparison.

If Clady is the pick then last years supplemental pick (Gaither) was a waste. Yanda will settle at guard before long. I still kinda like this OL of LT-Terry
LG-Brown
C-Chester
RG-Grubbs
RT-Yanda
Then after next year put the guys in their natural positions Gaither has to be ready by then and Chester should be the swing guy.
The number 1 priority should be a CB and then a QB. I dont think Ryan will be there when the Ravens pick. Mckelvin or Cromartie will probably be the #1 pick. Who know maybe they will trade the pick for more picks down the board. I still think the NFL took the wrong pick away from NE. Shoulda took the their highest pick not their own. They pick 7th before Ravens. Why give them a chance to get better when they had to cheat to win a game(s).

Sorry, but I disagree about Ellis. He'll be a top DT for some team. But he really is not the type of guy for Rex's schemes. He's quick down the line, and yes, he does get pressure on the QB, but in Rex's setup, the DT/nose tackle has a different role. The only real way Ellis would fit in our system is on third downs, which are more passing situations which are better suited to his skills. I don't think that's really worth a #8 pick. And the notion that great players can adapt just doesn't always work out that way.

Clady would be a waste and just not needed at all. What would have been the point of getting Gaither last year then? I say he could still be our future LT, we don't need to waste our first round pick on an OL.
