We sure did. Why we ever let that guy go is beyond my comprehension. Maybe Parcells could put a bug in his ear. Would love to have him back.

Seriously though, is Westhoff still under contract to the Jets? I'd heard earlier that he was taking a year off to battle health issues.

This article on McKinney is good news. We'll need him to take some pressure off the development of the young guys Thomas and Murphy and to provide more experience. Even if Thomas manages to beat him out at RG, McKinney will supply much-needed depth.

The headline, though, appears to be a case of journalistic hype. Apparently it's okay in the canons of journalistic ethics to mislead readers for the purpose of creating a buzz? Compare the headline, "McKinney Appears Fully Recovered ..." to the actual story which is much more cautious in tone, as indicated by the following phrases: McKinney is "finally participating in two-a-day practices", "finally TURNING A CORNER healthwise", and one other one I forgot.

Question: Since when did "finally participating" and "finally turning a corner" metamorphose into "Fully Recovered"? A bit of a stretch there, boys.

Don't get me wrong. I hope it's a full recovery. I want it to be. But none of that justifies what I can only call (to put it kindly)'poetic license.' Or it could just be called plain old 'deception.

The other phrase was "ATTEMPTING TO REGAIN FULL STRENGTH." It seems pretty obvious to me that a man who, by his own admission, is still in the process of "attempting to regain full strength" in his knee cannot honestly be said to be "fully recovered" yet.

Sorry folks for the rant, but truth in reporting, or the lack thereof, is a pet peeve of mine.

Getting rid of Westhoff was Wanny's doing - he wanted to bring a crony in from Chicago and did it first chance he had. That was the day special teams went into the crapper. Make it worse Westhoff ended up with the jrats I mean jets.

I know. Thinking about it is enough to give me migraine headaches ... or nightmares!
