Oh Dear Roger, you must be getting on inyears as your memory is playing tricks on you.
We went 1-15 because we had the worst O-Line in the NFL, a D that was getting so old they slowed to a crawl after 2Q's and we lost the biggest weapon on O in Ronnie Brown.
It had very little to do with John Beck, especially as a certain Cleo Lemon had done all the damage long before Beck saw the field with no prep in probably two of the toughest games of the season.
Beck made Lemon look like an all star.

<quoted text> Beck was part of the reason the team went 1-15. The NFL has never seen a QB worse then John Beck. And the stats back that up.
Sorry Roger, that statement just doesn't hold water. He WAS part of a bad team. However, he was not the cause of their poor play and lousy record.

Remember Trent Dilfer? He played for years with the Bucs and underperformed almost every year. The fans were delighted when he was gone. Well, he wound up with the Ravens who had the best defense in the league and now he has a Super Bowl ring. Did he improve that much just moving from team to team? No way. He just wound up on a better team that made him look bad.

Beck may not be the best QB in history but there are a lot worse. That crappy 1-15 team would have made Joe Montana, Dan Marino, and Brett Favre all look like garbage.

the guy cannot play football. he had his chance and didn't show a damn thing.

end of story.

the team tried their best to trade him for even a 7th round choice and no one wanted him.. now as a FA he is lucky to find a team.

he is too old and no team is gonna waste their time trying to develop him into at best a 2nd/3rd string QB

Case in point--> Brett Favre is a hall of fame QB, but on a P.O.S. team part of a P.O.S. organization like the Jets, he loocked like a chump.

Right on. Now all the whiney jets fans are hanging their late season cliff dive on Favre's head. He went from hero to zero pretty damn quick, didn't he?
