What happened to Jayson Foster? Is he still on the roster? I thought he would be a decent kick returner, no?

Depite of what Fialko says or hints its clear that he was wrong and that the Trinity , wanted Beck over Mc Cown all along. Mc Cown did not even throw a pass in the pre-season once Penny was signed

Beck needs to sit back and watch and regain his confidence. I wish the Dolphins would give him a year in the system and see what happens, but I think they will ultimately trade him before next year's draft.

This wasa the right move IMO. If HENNE is the back up, they didnty need another vet. Beck can now sit back and learn from Chad P.. Seems the Trifecta doesnt think BECK is as BAD as even the sentinel is making him out to be! ANd who knows more about football Players? Parcells, or some journalists who like to stir up crap for ratings sake?
Beck has alot of upside. So 3rd string right now is where he should be. I admit Henne has earnedthe back up role, and noone can argue Penn earned the stating job! IT's looking good in Phin land!

'PHINS are looking good. McCown was never a fin. He was just brought in to push Henne & Beck. I think Beck will do nothing but learn as the #3 QB. After the debacle last year, and being thrown to the wolves the way he was, he needs to just sit back and learn this system for a year and then the BIG THREE can evaluate him come next years otas or camp. As far as Penny, he will be great for both of these youngsters for the next couple of years.

McCown had to be the one. The Dolphins just CAN'T keep jetissoning there high draft picks after one or two years.

Beck is a non issue. At best he'll carry the clipboard. I had suggested McCown to Omar in a possible trade with the packers and was berated for being a Beck advocate. When all I was doing was merely pointing out the trade value in both players. I was told Sparano would prefer to have a backup quarterback that wouldn't need many reps. This tells me volumes in who actually knows what. As I said a few days ago, we'll all have a better idea regarding the team by the third or fourth game. There are alot of rocks left out there. We all have to keep something in mind when deciphering Sparanos comments. He is a student of Parcells. Want a good example? Bellicek in new england. These people are genius when it comes to making noise and saying nothing of value. One thing we can all believe..........no ones job is safe.

Yep, once PENNINGTON is gone we will have a great starter in HENNE and a good backup in BECK. Good choice with the trade.

PS. What happend to Jayson Foster?? Was he cut?

The one was going to be "the one" who brought a trade offer at the right price. Be it Beck or McC - the "other one" is the one left standing and they will trade Beck for the right offer - if "One" comes along.

I think they still see potential in Beck but they stand a chance to get maybe a 2 or 3 if the right circumstances develop. Beck is not damaged goods - yet.

A quick review - we get rid of Daniels, who probably was going to get cut, and pick up maybe a 6 or 7 pick. Now we unload a QB while unloading his salary and guaranteed money and create a 6 or 7 pick out of thin air.

Beat the stinkin jets!!!!

McKown is a journyman and will play at this level, we don't need such expensive insurance sitting on the pine Beck has potential, and sometimes a year or two does wonders with the right staff, give the guy a chance

What is with all of the" bleeding heart"John Beck fans? When is someone going to admit that he is just another draft day bust like so many others before him! I do not see him becoming an NFL starting QB,ever and obviously neither does the current regime. He's a nice guy but so was Joey Harrington,Jay Feidler,etc.,etc.! They spent more time with Beck this off season than any other player, and he still could not win the starting job. That pretty much says it all, trade him for whatever we can get, now!!

McCown was here to be a "veteran" QB for the two young guys Beck & Henne. With Pennington's coming, McCown was expendible AND Pennington was an upgrade. Beck is expendable too, but has no value unless he establishes himself on the field. I hope whatever team that IDIOT Cam Cameron coaches for now would take him off our hands. The Dolphins blew the dough AGAIN on a high draft pick who can't play.

So the Dolphins gave McCown 2 million in bonus money just to have him in training camp for the purposes of pushing Beck and Henne?

It would seem in reading the Miami Herald reports etc... that McCown did not want to be a backup. He has shown some promise in moving a weak Oakland Raiders offense before he got injured. Sparano said recently that some players have to accept their backup status. Evidently McCown did not...and so it goes.

Thanks for your perspective I agree! The Dolphins gave McCown 2 million in bonus money to be a training camp quarterback. They of course did not know Pennington would become available.

They gave him a $2mil bonus because pennington wasn't available before!  once penn became available, mccown became expendable.  they're below the cap enough where it's ok if you lose a little bit of money here or there.just think of it as giving pennington $2 mil more than he actually got!
