Another example of the Dispatch's incredible ability to deliver thorough, solid, and riveting reporting! Why not include information concerning why the long delay, and other pertinent information. A high school newspaper could have done better!

From someone who was a senior in high school when the war was winding down. The men will tell you to take the medals and shove them . Lets give them the benefits for being exposed to Agent Orange . I thank each and every one of them that served

War hero? I don't want to take anything away from this man, but a purple heart is not a big deal. I am a Vietnam veteran too and I personally know of men who got them for things like cutting their toe running to the bunkers and getting wood splinters. A bronze star or silver star means a hero. This guy was there and no matter what he did he deserves our respect. But to think that a US Senator wants to take credit for getting him a delayed purple heart is ridiculous. And it sure isn't newsworthy. Brown should have better things to do than this kind of publicity seeking. It is nice that someone on his staff helped if this guy thought it was so important to him, but lets not act like it is an earth shattering event to the rest of us. Cripes, even John Kerry got a purple heart and we all know what a wuss he is.

Tell the goverment that they can shuv the medal. I want to know why it taked 40 years for this man to get it. This is NOT the first story of it's kind. When it comes time for them to get their raises, it doesn't take 40 years.
ps Open the pin before they shuv it.

Bullshit! I received a deforming scar over my eye in a truck caravan accident when the village we were about to enter had been taken over by the NVA. An ARVN had jump in front of the carava n to stop us from entering. I was hauling Joes. and I got nothing! All I know is what action was he in!
