Isn't Phil Savage the guy who had Derek Anderson and still traded a 1st and a 2d to Draft Brady Quinn? And before you reply, "he didn't know Anderson was this good", I'll say that he's the freaking GM, he should know who's good on his own team. Anderson had started many games before this season.

Point is, the day I worry what the Browns GM thinks, is the day the Browns aren't a joke in their own right.

And as for Mayock, to paraphrase Bill Tobin. Who the hell is Mike Mayock? Shouldn't he be putting pins in his Mel Kiper voodoo doll?

Whether or not Long is as good as Joe Thomas I don't know. But I'l bet he's better than Damion McIntosh, John St. Claire, LJ Shelton, Wade Smith, Spencer Folau, Cory Lekkekkekkekkekker, or any other stiff we've had at LT here recently...including Leon Searcy.

Clearly, Jake Long was a huge reach at #1. Lots of questionmarks surrounding him.

Nothing wrong with having 2 great QB's like the Chargers did and the Browns do. Unfortunately, the pathetic Fins dont have any QB's.... can you say 1-15 again?

Jake Long was a horrible pick and disgustingly over payed. He shouldnt have been payed more than the #1 pick last year which was a QB not an OL. With his pay he has no choice to be a LT.

Let training camp and pre season games sort it out. I think he will be a force in this league if he can stay healthy. I agree he was paid way to much money for an unproven player, but #1 picks always are. The Dolphins selected the player that fit there new system best and the position that has been most needed for the past several years.

Training camp is around the corner and I can't wait. 26 days and counting. Go Dolphins.

Everyone shouldn't expect him to be perfect starting out, he's going to get burned once in a while and how he recovers and plays the next down will be the true test

You might have mentioned that Jake is not going to make or break the Phins SB chances in '08

If he is going to "transition "to Left Tackle, then let him PLAY Left Tackle. Carey is no great shakes there, and Long is already better than Carey tat the position. Don't let the fans hear stupid crap like this from self-styled "gurus". Long will be the guy and a legend will be born there. The QUESTION is which QB is he going to be protecting?

Jake Long is humble, smart, and will by mid season be in pro bowl form. The gurus of the dolphins will have him on the correct side.

Its funny how you talk about long being a question mark at left tackle, but in your very next post you state that B. Quinn is a great QB... Now thats just dumb, being neither guy has played a down in the NFL... We will find out hoe good they are when they get on the field, and the way things are going it looks like Quinns not gonna see that till he either gets traded or Anderson goes down. As far as Long being a reach, I think I'll take Deirdorfs assessment of him over yours. PS That week of no news was a nice break from the wise guy Roger posts...GO PHINS!!!

He had better be a left tackle for the money they paid him and being the #1 pick......has there ever been a #1 pick that was a right tackle???

He'll be a left tackle. I think he was a no-brainer pick and the Dolphins should enjoy the next 12 years of him making pancakes out of Jet and Patriot DL's.

Right on...no need to "gradually" move him over to LT...Dolphins are rebuilding, not contending. If he's as tough as his rep...throw him in there and see if he can swim.

Apparently Mayock has never seen Carey play left tackle.
