Al, and his overhead projection routine, isn't looking so crazy anymore.

I don't blame Lane for bolting out of TN....he was forth right with UT ...when he was hired he told them the only way he would leave UT is if USC was offered to him...and it was offered sooner than anyone thought....but he was honest in his intention. I think he treated the Raiders awful...but he didn't do UT wrong as he was honest with them up front.

Al is afraid of head coaches who have any semblance of independent thought. Al was once one of these coaches who like Kiffin burned and pillaged his way to the top.

Al as of 1972 made a point of destroying the influences of his partners Valley and McGah. by rewriting the General Partnership in 1972 while Valley was over seas for the Olympics he made himself the President of the partnership along with McGah's backing. McGah always kept Al's ego under check with his backing of their general manager Ron Wolf. McGah passed away in 1983 but his will was respected and Wolf stayed in place. But in 1990 Wolf resigned and later became GM for the Packers the rest is history for him.

In 2003 the McGah family sued Al for incompetence and lost and their General Partnership share was regulated to a Limited partnership. Ever since then complete dysfunction has reigned.

Any coach who shows his ability and talent at that position and Kiffin is a talented coach as AL once was but at the same time is ambitious like Al they are going to be controlled or fired.
