Pete Caroll is getting paid millions to get his team ready. millions of dollars. what usc needs to decide, like the great general sun tzu, is to determine whether these losses are the fault of the generals or the soldiers.

I don't know if people are into it... and We wanted to feature Joe McKnight. This epitomizes the character of the team and it's coaches. What a sorry comment about a team that should be trying to win a BCS berth. The coachs have long played favorites trying to feature one player or another. Face it McKnight fumbles and gets caught from behind. He is brought down easily and never has lived up to the potential he was thought to have. O an D coaching have been terrible. The pick six in the fourth was such a horrible play. 3rd and two empty backfield, in the upper rows of the stadium I could have reacted to the play. Barkley may be good next year but the man crush PC continually lays out to the press is quit disheartening. The really sad thing is if Barkley is this bad at this time and they continue to play him, how much worse must Corp and Mustain be. This speaks to coaching and player development. The team and the individual players have not improved and in fact are worse now than at the start

Prepare a new quarterback to start. It can't be any worse. Barkley is not providing the needed leadership and spark. How about an option quarterback?

Where have you been livin?

Pete has always poured it on:

killing UCLA 66-19 in 2005 he still has starters in with what 4 minutes left in the game.

Up by 28 and going for it on fourth down in the fourth quarter.

man your clueless.

I'd say it's more of a BCS problem than a coaching problem. If it's not a blowout, it doesn't "count" as much in computer rankings and polls. Pete plays the numbers game like all other coaches. Ain't no room for chivalry in FBS.

I agree just responding to Lorenzo's comment that Pete doesn't run up the score, Actuall it the Polls not the BCS, coaches have been running up the score to impress the pollsters Long before the BCS.

BTW I really don't have a problem running up the score, just don't complaine when someone does it to you.

You can't just try to keep stock piling the best players in the country and everyone of those recruits think they should start. It's going to backfire eventually. Competition is good, but you can't over do it. Players are beginning to wake up to Pete's philosphy and players are opting to go to other D1 schools. Plus, alot of those players that USC gets are overrated by all those high school recruiting publications.
Sanford should have scored 60 on them.
Anyone that has a son that is skilled enough to get a football scholarship offer between Stanford or USC, Stanford wins everytime. Stanford degree or USC degree?

This might be true. But lets be honest. How many high school players who are "skilled enough to get a football scholarship offer between Stanford or USC" are really interested in what their diploma says at the top. I believe most make ther decision based on their best chance to get to the next level. Take a look at the last couple of draft classes and Stanford doesn't look as promising. That doesn't take anything away from them. They are still a great school. I just don't see talented kids choosing a college without thinking who's gonna get them to the next level, and prepare them accordingly.

Well, they did trim margin of victory out of the computers, I think.

As for all those blowouts, maybe I'm wearing cardinal colored glasses, but Pete got his share of kudos for NOT piling on some of those last minute gimme touchdowns.

The year we matched up with Texas in averaging 50 points a game, we'd score too fast while just handing off to Reggie off tackle or throwing an occasional slant, and the quick strike touchdown would almost be accidental.

So we ended up in kind of a reverse ball control. Let the other team have the long drives, and chew up the clock. Doesn't matter when anything past the second quarter is garbage time.

The problem is, this year, the opponent started having the annoying habit of actually scoring at the end of their methodical drives.

Surely, it's time for a paradigm shift.
