Jets, football, NFL

Full story: Newsday

In the end, they were good enough not to lose to one of the NFL 's worst teams. How good this Jets team can be in 2008, however, could not be gleaned from today's 26-14 victory over the still winless Bengals at ...

I went in saying the game wasn't easy. Cincinnati, despite their winless record, gave fights to some pretty good football teams (took the Giants to OT, hung with Dallas). Okay the game wasn't close or a blowout like most games were, and it wasn't the greatest performance, but it was a game the Jets were supposed to win. Win they did.

Their next 2 opponents have only 2 wins between them. We should all expect the Jets to be 5-2 by the Bills game. That's going to be interesting.

Oakland is a running offense team. The run D played very well (considering the Bengals do have Chris Perry, YUCK!) but they will be tested with the Raiders run offense (split backfield and QB who is run happy) but with the exception of the San Diego game, they have been pretty much shutdown the run. Let's hope the Jets keep it up and enjoy this win and get ready for cross-country trip # 2.

The Colts creamed that other team. I mean the Colts were doing a horrible job at the beginning of the season then they came back. I mean the Colts are the comeback kids. They lose than win. Why wouldn't u be a fan of the Colts.

Cause I don't like the Manning clan beginning with daddy Archie who never won a thing in his entire career!

What do you have against the Mannings? Btw, in case you don't know, Archie Manning was 1 of the most underrated QB's ever! It was'nt his fault that the Saints blew moose balls and gave him no support. There was no free agency back then so he was stuck with that team as their only shining light. You could say that he was the Ernie Banks of football.

For starters, I don't like that classless act that daddy staged on behalf of little Eli to discourage the Chargers from drafting him.
I disagree about him being the shining light with the Saints. I think he was more a part of the problem then the solution with those teams!
As for big brother Peyton-line up under the center, call your signals and take the snap for *******sake. Stop with all the bullsshhiitt antics as if everyone else is stupid and you're in a constant hurry up offense.

Jim although I agree with ya on most posts and respect ya, I totally disagree with ya on this one. I happened to meet Archie Manning just 2 months ago by chance in an airport and was amazed by how much of an average gentelman he was. It was great to see where his kids came from. I always thought they seemed like a great family on tv, just happens to be for real for a change. A credit to this man and his kids.

Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate them! Glad you had a pleasant experience with Manning but I just can't bring myself to like them. I hope I'm wrong but that deal with the Chargers really set me off. I just didn't think it was right and I'm certainly not a Chargers fan. I felt he found a way around the system!

Yes, I happen to agree with you about Archie and the Mannings refusing to play for the Chargers as their draft pick. I don't think it is right for a player to determine where he wants to play. In fact, I'd love to see a team 1 day tell the player to get a real job and see how that works out. Btw, how do you feel about John Elway who did the same thing with the Colts? This bs that these players pull defeats the purpose of the draft. I understand your dislike or impatience at Peyton Manning's little games he plays on the line, but it's all gamesmanship and I believe he is one of the few QB's that call his own plays which is how it should be. Believe me, as a Jet's fan I'm no fan of his, but I understand what he's trying to do.

I never liked Elway either because as you said, he beat the system. Play within the rules or go flip some burgers! The league needs to stop that stuff by declaring them ineligible for at least a year if they even suggest it.
I'm a Jets fan also and it has been painful at times but I like what's been happening so far this year!
