Ever since the deal was made late last July, the debate has raged. Was trading Jeremy Shockey to the Saints the right thing for the Giants to do? But the arguments on either side were buried under one uncertainty: It's never been clear what the Giants received in return.

So they traded a cancer in the locker room and the huddle who routinely dropped almost anything thrown his way, especially across the middle, and they got two draft picks out of it.

Just getting rid of Shockey would have been worth it, probably without any compensation. Boss may not be the "superstar" Shockey was, be he does what is needed and expected of him. he fills his role in the offense, and does it without running his mouth or causing a disruption. His drops are minimal, and while he was not nearly the blocker Shockey was when he first started, he's made great progress and has been a good fit with the offensive line.

Everyone's on the Giants to get a big playmaker at receiver. Let's be honest, no one really stepped into this role after Burress shot himself in the foot (in more ways than one). There are some receivers worth looking at in the draft, but I don't know if any besides Crabtree are really worth first round money or a long term first round contract.
Maybe they could use some of their picks to work their way up and get him.

I don't want to see them land Braylon Edwards. It's not a knock on his athletic ability, which would make him one of the top receivers in the NFL. he's a head case, just like Shockey and just like Burress. If they trade for him and he only has a year or two left on his contract, then maybe it's worth a shot. But that could cost the Giants two yerars of developing another playmaker.

I guess we'll see soon enough.

There is no way the Giants make all 10 selections this weekend. They have an abundance of picks and no place to put all of these players. Count on them to overpay for one of these WRs and most likely they will draft depth players at OLB, DB and OL.

Trading away Shockey was a great move as he was nothing but white trash with money. I think the Giants will have a wonderful draft as they have the last couple of years. I get a feeling overall depth will be a theme for this year.

As a Giant and Chief fan, I'd like to propose a trade. Tony Gonzalez for The lower of the two Giant second round picks. Gonzo would give them the another receiving threat and the Chiefs could use the pick for depth they desperately need.
