Ahhh, glad we don't have that distraction. Have fun in New Orleans Shockey, I am sure your welcome mat won't last long there either.

You never gave up hope on what, Jeremy? That the Giants would finally unload you! Spare me,your act got old and never completed a 16 game schedule.

Shockey was a true warrior. Had great potential but his big mouth, injuries and lifestyle were a bad fit for the Giants.

His on field gestures when a pass was not thrown right were downright embarassing. He was ME player.
Look how good the Giants did when he went down.
Maybe he will clean up his act and become the player we all thought he would be(Mark Bavaro).

Bye!

I'll miss him for matchup problems, his enthusiasm, and the potential he still has not quite lived up to.
But, we did win without him.
Personally, I think his wanting out was 'sour grapes'. Why walk out on a winner. No one was pushing him out. As solid as Jerry has been on draft day, theres no telling how good this may work out for us. Good luck, Shockey, hope you find what you are looking for. We're going to be fine.

he is a huge talent. yes he has a big mouth but if u had his talent u would prob think differently as well. the dude is 27.. he's in his prime.. 4 pro bowls, 1 all-pro season, 371 catches, 4200 yards, 27td's, national championship with miami and now he has a sb ring.

you're all comparing him to bavaro? compare the stats.. bavaro played 9yrs has 351 catches, 4700 yards, 39td's, 1sb ring and 2 pro bowls. shockey compiled same stats in 6yrs.

shockey will be huge in payton's system.

I'm not anti-Shockey (look up all my posts), bit you are wrong on a couple of things here. Yup, Jeromy has more natural ability than Mark did. Could get open more, etc, etc. But the 80's Giants were not really a throwing team at all.
And here is the big difference. In mid 80's Giants football, the guy everyone wanted to see get the ball in a clutch situation was Mark Bavaro. He made BIG CATCHES, and rarely fumbled. Then he would take two or three defenders on a ride with him until he passed the first down marker, which he seemed to have a built in sensor to find.
Stats aren't everything. I saw most of Shockeys games, same way I saw most of Bavaros. I STILL REMEMBER BIG PLAYS BY MARK. Not so with Jeromy. And just in case you're wondering, I'm a lifelong Giants fan who now believes the greatest thing I have ever seen with my football eyes was this Giants run last year. I have no 'silly loyalties' to that great 80's team that dominated in it's wins, as opposed to the unbelievable weekly gut check this 2007 team was capable of. Eli Manning had a much more memorable performance in the BOWL than Simms did.....even if the stats say something completely different.
The difference between Mark and Jeromy is Mark BROUGHT IT, every day, every down. Shockey, with a worlds worth of more talent brought it "most of the time".
Anyone that loved both teams will tell you the same.

BTW, Tiki Barber put up electrifying numbers his last 3 years as a Giant. Had they won a Super Bowl with him, he'd be a Hall Of Fame lock. They didn't, however. Then, the first year without ALL THOSE NUMBERS FROM TIKI, the Giants win it all. I'm not saying it's Tikis fault they didn't win. I'm just further illustrating that NUMBERS AREN'T EVERYTHING.
Good luck to Jeromy. If things go well, he may wind up with Hall Of Fame numbers, for a tight end. Bavaro doesn't deserve it, he wasn't effective long enough.
But the gutsiest, most clutch tight end in recent Giants history was Mark Bavaro. I didn't say most talented, did I?
