Hard to tell...he is solid...however, we started a different QB every other game last year...it wouldn't be fair to judge him based on that. He did well, there were some botched snaps...but I think that was due to QB changes. Hard to get continuity. Plus I think he is a temp fix while your guy heals....he will do well enough for you. The chargers only signed a one year deal which was smart as he is getting long in the tooth.

why the chargers? i was mentioning yesterday on another post, that it would suck if jordan went to denver. but i guess it sucked for them when walker came to oakland! now, schweigert went to the redskins, but, who cares. at least it's not a rival team!

yeah but it's different when its not a "big" playmaking position. It's not going to hurt us to have Newberry on the Chargers.

He's a very intelligent and fierce veteran player. Microfracture knee surgery has slowed him down somewhat, but he makes up for it with his savvy play. He used to be a perennial pro-bowler with the 49ers. He rarely practises anymore to save his knees, but, if he has anything left in the tank, you guys will like him.

oakland just had him for what, one season? from what you guys have shared, it sounds like he'll be a solid insurance policy for SD.

thanks for the info captain.

I think you will be very surprised "Raider Misery" when He plays against your guys in September. You better have strechers for your Faider defense!! Newberry will be just fine. In fact he is very excited about going against the Raiders, very excited!

Jeremy Newberry is better at 50% than most Centers at 100%. Yea there were some botched snaps definitely due to QB changes. But I watched him destroy every nose guard and m-lb that faced him last season. I was actually suprised how tuff he still was. He definitely impacted some opposing teams pro bowl stats. And the niners missed him. And when any defender is asked, no body wants to see J-new looking back accross the line at them. Thats why he had offers from the chargers, buckaneers, and raiders.
