We'll see. I still think there are a couple of weak links in the coaching staff, particularly on special teams. Considering Slocum's supposed to be big on fundamentals, it was a disappointing year. And missing the top return men because of injuries doesn't explain the general inability to tackle anyone.

But that's all fodder for training camp. Right now, on to important things... 23 days till pitchers and catchers report. Hey Eric... what do you think of the Edmonds signing? Seems like a win/win to me... he could be the Craig Counsell of the outfield. And if not, he didn't cost that much.

Well we did go 11-5 with this staff, but I'm sure next years schedule will be a little tougher. The O-line coach seemed to get his guys to play better, but it did help to get Mark and Cliffy back. I liked that Slocum worked with Crosby to get his mechanics back to form, Mason looked much better at the end of the year, but like answerman said, we'll see.

I also agree with both you guys, I'm not that sold on Slocum either. What I'd like to see Crosby work on is kickoff placement to one side of the field. I know that is not an easy concept, but I think it would help our coverage which at times was awful. I'm definitely not sold on the punter and some of the coverage either.

id like to see them Hire John Bennamego for special teams!.A Ryan Longwell type kicker or a punter who can kick EX and Short FG and leave the kickoffs to crosby if he ever gets into a slump.
as far as punting? well, what ever happened to the coffin corner punt? Id rather see them miss the corner and put it out of bounds at the 15 then kick it down the middle and have it roll into the endzone and the o other team starts at the 20!not to mention the Special teams players wont have to tackle on that team and less risk of injuries, now a coffin corner isnt an option every punt,so they must learn better coverage and tackling for sure, but, anytime you can corner kick it and eliminate the opportunity of their returner making a great return,well........

ANSWERMAN....... I actually love the signing of Jim Edmonds!as you said the Counsell of the outfield.
a vet who can teach Carlos Gomez how to play CF.a lefty hitter with some power, although he is 40,hes in great shape,so who knows.and im praying he plays so well,we can trade Corey Hart and move someone to RF.
maybe Mark Mulder comes to town. How about that other utility guy,his name excapes me,but, now Councel wont have to play 130Games at 2nd when Ricky Weeks makes his annual visit to the disabled list for the year!

Sounds like Mulder is still a possibility. Plus, one name I keep waiting to hear about is Chris Capuano. Now, if he could come back this year and contribute... but then, how many lefties can you have in your starting rotation? That would be a nice problem to have.

they are waiting for Mulder to throw off the mound. The Brewers can end up paying Suppan 12M+ to be a bull pen pitcher.
Gallardo
Wolf

then Doug Davis. dave Bush Manny Parra, we could throw in mark Mulder and im sure Suppan will get a shot at it,I think IMO they will leave Capuano for the 2011 season.
