Great we go from what should have been a very short stay as head coach for Gruden to shocking everyone by firing bad and hiring young once again. Here is an idea: How about hiring a proven coach with a proven WINNING track record. Someone that knows how to build a team. I don't know some one like dare I say TONY. But no we once again will be subjected to years more of disappointment waiting for the second coming of a great quarterback, a "franchise" quarterback to develop. Come on! How about getting back to the basics.

I totally agree. This has BUST written all over it. The NBA will wait three years for talent to develop (see Dwight Howard), the NFL will not. He'll get 6 games and a parting gift. The NFL sees the "next" QB as the greatest. Only kids who get to sit for three years become the great ones unless they somehow get drafted into decent teams making their way back. I hate 1st round QB picks. So many great QB's have been selected in late rounds. Why take this gamble after giving away so many 1st round picks for Gruden? Looks like the ghost of Hugh Culverhouse is back...

They should of waited until next year to draft a QB. They have Leftwich, Greise, McCown. The QB class this year is not that deep. Keep your picks and draft QB next year.

Freeman is dumber than a box of rocks. This will be BIG signing $$ down the drain. He'll make Vince Young look like Albert Einstein. Whitley is giving him too much credit, saying he reads defenses like a 19 year-old freshman. Try maybe a 7th grader and you'll be closer to the truth. Also, even at his size, he's afraid of contact.

how can you call a guy a "franchise" qb when he could'nt win in college? and he was only at K-state.

So we bascially signed leftwitch just to throw off other teams that we wanted freeman.... WEAK.... I dont like this pick at all... and I dont want to see any other QB on the field opening day then this kid...If your going to use first rounder on this kid then you need to throw him in the fire right away thats the only way he will learn.... Sitting him on the bench wont help anything.... I say cut all our qbs except Leftwitch and this Freeman....start Freeman and have leftwitch for insurance....
