PRO FOOTBALL: Raiders still hoping Russell will air it out

Ted Tollner has been around football long enough to know there's no way to sugarcoat a quarterback barely completing one out of three passes in the NFL.

Russell needs to loosen up and take advantage of the opportunity that he has. There's so many other talented quaterbacks that would love to be in his shoes. Why keep holding on to this guy, he looks like he doesn't want to be there or give an effort to improve. It was sad to see Jeff Garcia leave, someone who is hungry and ready to take control of an offense.

Jeff Garcia leaving was a good thing. make no mistake. He is not a piece that was brought in to be part of our future. He was brought in to teach. He wasn't doing that. Now Russell eeds to start connecting. Its obvious his accuracy has been part of the problem...but I have heard people saying he doesn't know the playbook well enough....if that's the case the coach needs to use what he knows and make him learn the rest. that is horrible if that's true, unless it was a ridiculous amount to learn...not thenre don't know...but either way he needs to step up. In th first game I like how he managed and didn't seem to get frazzled. accuracy was an issue....but there were also some blown routes. I didn't get to see the KC game but I heard accuracy again was a big problem. he needs to work out whatever the problem is...hopefulle a week from Schilens will be back and maybe he will connect well with him.

This is a Raider team that is difficult to adjust to. Conserative and collective as opposed to reaching out and taking chances both at game time and with transactions. Russell can't take chances because he lacks accuracy, agreed. And not signing trouble makers such as T. Owens, M. Vick and M. Crabtree says to me that the shenanigans are not needed. But to some degree it is missed. That was Raider football. I trust that with healthy Schilens, Asomgmua, Gallery and Fargas we will be able to better handle crap teams like KC and SD. Bring it Denver.
